Might I specifically recommend Weight of Glory by C.S. Lewis?

Either of the title essay or The Inner Ring are worth far more than the price of the book, and the other essays are pretty solid also.

Saint Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica, it is over 1000 pages of extremely boring philosophy in really small printing. It's awesome. Saint Justin Martyr Apology is another great read. Saint Augustine problem of free will, have not finished yet, but very much enjoying it. My all time favorite though is the Philokalia Vol 4 it has a variety of texts compiled by Saint Nikodimos of the Holy Mountain and Saint Makarios of Corinth, and it is mind blowing.

I have several, but my very favorite is Pilgrim's Progress. I think Bunyan had tremendous insight into the struggles that a Christian faces in his attempt to follow Christ. I also think the book accurately portrays the many different types of people we meet in life and the characteristics of the sincere vs insincere.

I like C. S. Lewis, but my favorite author is Frank Peretti. He writes Christian Sci-Fi.
