Favorite action anime?

Ok so no doubt theres a thread about this already, but threads that arent on page one dont exist so....

What is your favorite anime for action? Why does it appeal to you and what makes it that extra bit special over other anime with action/fight sequences? Discuss

Well I don't know if this qualifies, but I'd have to say 'Starblazers.' I loved that cartoon when I was younger. Watched it every day after school. I can't really say why I think its the best, or what makes it so special... I just loved it.

Oh, I'd have to include 'Speed Racer' as well.

Let's see...there are so many to choose from. Right now my favorite is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The fighting in that show is just as smoothly animated as any movie or OVA, and it's consistent from episode one to the second season.

Also, my favorite characters in the series, the Tachicomas (spider like combat robots a little smaller than a Volkswagon) have hilarious personalities, are extremely well animated, and are just plain cool.

I also really like InuYasha, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam SeeD, Gundam X, Gundam Wing, Gundam 08th MS Team, and Flame of Recca (the Manga).

I generally watch comedy shows, so there's not too many action series that I watch to pull from, but either Evangelion or Ranma would be my favorites. Eva simply because of the apocalyptic, psychological and intensely involving way it's presented, and Ranma because, well, it's the best fusion of action and comedy I've seen so far.

I do particularly like the action sequences in Kenshin, although I haven't watched but a few random episodes of it. I did use it in one of my AMVs, though (as you could probably see from my sig picture).
