Father's Day is at the change of season. It is at the time of the new moon. It is ascension day for a passover in the second month. There are many more; but this is enough to deny and cast off.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Pharisees and scribes of his day were using it as an ego trip to gain more power over people than what they actually had. The title of a father as is what our birth father's are called today, is just that, a title. It is a means to identify the relationship that the birth father has to the child.

Why in the world would I do that? Father's Day is just a day to honor our fathers or if you are a father to be honored as someone's father.

Jesus, his apostles, and all the early church were Jews. So who could Jesus be talking about here?
How about the 'AB' the father of the Sanhedrin. They were not to have a second spiritual authority father only the Father and His Son.
In the context of the chapter, the two verses just above we also see...
Matthew 23:7
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
Matthew 23:8
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
They were not to have titles like the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin that they could lord over their brothers and sisters in Christ.

“I beget you” means I became your father.
Paul is essentially saying he is the father of the Corinthians through the good news
how do we reconcile? Is Messiah saying something within a specific context that is not clear within the immediate context?
Stephen called Abraham “our father” in Acts 7:2. He even addresses part of the crowd as “fathers”
Acts of the Apostles 7:2
And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham
