Just remembered reading about an article (Sci. Amer. i think) in which some DNA from a jelly fish was put into a mouse egg (dont ask me how, i cant remember). But apparently the lil bugger looks like a mouse but glows like a jelly fish. man i wish i could glow in the dark. thatd be a blast sometimes

Bliss, do you think they're planning that for the human race as well? What's your opinion-would that be a good thing or a bad thing?

Darwin, I can see how glowing in the dark could actually be kind of fun! But then you'd be stuck with the press following you everywhere you went--and you wouldn't be able to hide from them! ;D

They have put the part of simple sea creatures that glow in to plants. The idea was to develop a potato which could be planted next to other crops to see if they needed water.

They have also mixed a hamster and a carrot (creating a new life from with it's own unique kingdom).

What is in store for people? The cloning of spare body parts, and of whole people. Likely it will lead to a new kind of war. Genetic warfare. Place (for example, your) an RDA of yor DNA in some kind of insect. When the insect bites, it injects your RNA which in turn infects the victem, changing it's DNA your DNA. Something like an engineered Prion. Everyone in the world would be altered, and would be a copy of you. Imagine a war of millions of competing genomes?

But it does sound like a good topic for a sci-fi thriller. Maybe I'll write one...

Seems scientists are big on the jellyfish thing. I read about them putting the jellyfish gene in a zebra fish or a sea anemone gene in a zebra fish and the glow red or green (depending on whether they use the hellyfish or sea anemone). This is just weird: they are selling them as pets, expected to be in stores next January. I will see if I can find the article. The way I see it, if they glow red and green they should be selling them for christmas.

Really, imagine waking up christmas morning and seeing this red/geen glow coming from downstairs. You look under the tree and you got a few little fishies swimming around.

Another idea: what if they did it to birds? That would be just plain scary. I wonder if it would work with the feathers and all. Hmmmm.....
