  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know we have to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, but this is something I feel like I can't do because of some health problems. I was wondering if anyone knows what excuses a person from being required to fast? I was thinking I would still eat the same amount as I always do, but give up some little things and of course I'd give up meat. If I didn't have any problems, I'd definitely follow through with the fasting, although I feel like I fast quite a lot already every day with having a digestive disorder. I don't like how confusing these things can be sometimes.

Health is a reason. Eat tiny things in between if you have diabetes or whatever. Abstinence from meats shouldnt be problematic to a diet. IT depends on the doctors orders...but i dont know of too many health concerns that suggest eating red meats every day.

Health is an exception to the extreme fasting rule.

I had health issues and have experienced the same concern in the past (now I am exempt from fasting :D).
I was told by my pastor to do the best I can and make other sacrifices.
Some days I did well re: the limited size of the meal, others days I just did what I could.
Often I would eat smaller portions and if it affected me would eat more as needed.
Some times it amounted to the required fast...other times not.
The Lord knows your struggles and heart; health comes first!
