Well, as I think about the concept of fasting and not eating, I am reminded of the many times when my body has REPELLED food - especially during difficult times such has deaths or break-ups - for days at a time. It is at these times when I cannot literally eat, or my body will expell it if I try.
Is our spirit begging for us to fast during these times? Because mine doesn't just beg, it demands it. I often wonder how much more difficult those times would have been if I had weighed myself down with food on top of the emotional weight I already was enduring.
So, I guess, take this as a reminder that fasting is beneficial in so many ways, and to listen to our bodies when they don't want the food. Our bodies even know better than our minds most of the time.
Just a little food for thought. (I had to say that, I just had to!)
