  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nobody's perfect. We all make mistakes. I'm only human.
Any of these sound familiar? Chances are we have all said them. Some of us, and I'm guilty of this, over use them.
The fact of the matter is, that while these are true, God does expect us to be perfect. He made us in His image (Gen 1:27),is He not perfect? We were created to be like him, therefore the expectation is that we live up to it (Matt 5:48).
Here's the kicker, this isn't going to happen while we are on earth. The perfect human was a one time position held by Christ, none of us can ever measure up to that (Rom 3:23).
Everything we do on earth, just leads up to what we will do in His kingdom. We will make mistakes. We will fail. We will fall on our face. Don't be discouraged. Get up, shake it off, and move on in faith (Prov 24:16).

HERE ARE SOME FUNDAMENTALS: A true "born again" believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is forgiven and made a "child of God" by the indwelling and sealing of the Holy Spirit. If one then sins they need to confess it (1 Jn. 1:9-10). A child of God is not kicked out of the family for failures, and one cannot be unborn if they have been "born again". So, we need to be humble and repentant before God and our Lord Jesus.

It is important to understand that a saint (child of God) has a perfect STANDING before God, but can have a carnal (worldly) STATE in sins in our lifestyle. One needs to repent of that. The Word of God teaches us the difference between standing and state.
