I'm writing some screenplays and I'm beginning to fancy one of the characters.

A part of me is worrying in case this could incite lust and that I should delete them however I do think they are an interesting character which others could enjoy. Although I don't want to justify sin.

Do you think a fancy/ crush on a fictional character is sin?
What do you think I should do?

I don't think it's that strange or Sinful. The same way you can be attracted to the personality traits of very real people, is the same way you can be attracted to/fancy a fictional character. The trick is not being lured in to believing that person is real. Keeping boundaries between reality and fiction is the most important. The second trick is remembering that God will give you/has given you sufficiency and abundance in the real form. So if you have someone, let that person be sufficient and let that sufficiency lead to abundance. If you are looking for someone, remember that God is willing to give you ABOVE and BEYOND what you've ever imagined.

As long as you don't start lusting after them (which can be a sign of losing touch with reality) I don't see a problem and I don't find any Biblical reference to such a case being considered Sin.

I've had this happen. It's not a sin unless you let it become lustful. If you're indulging lust, it is a sin regardless of whether the person is real or not. God wants your heart to be pure, not just your body. And I definitely hope you don't delete the character! Yikes! If you've written anything impure, by all means, you should delete those scenes. But otherwise, no - why? In real life, if you're attracted to someone, you need to learn to walk a fine line until you're married, don't you? Well, the same applies here, until a real person replaces this character in your affections. I don't think it's wrong to "fancy" the character (if I understand "fancy" correctly) as long as you're not allowing that to degenerate into lusting after him/her. (Sorry for the pronoun confusion, but I don't know what you are yourself. I wish CF would bring back the m/f icons.)
