  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i have nothing against fanfic writers. afterall, i spend a lot of my free time reading fanfics. some are good, some need some work, and some shouldn't be posted until the author learns the art of story-telling or finds a really good beta(but that's another matter entirely). my point is, i read lots of it and have even thought of writing some since i don't like posting my original work online. people have sticky fingers and i wouldn't mind as much if someone took a fanfic story i wrote.

yes, after all, you didn't create the character(s) or the history of the character(s).

Well...there are a lot of professional writers who do that...and make good money at it!... writing novels set in the Star Trek, Star Wars, Forgotten Realms, etc. universes.

I've written a couple.

#1: The Love Boat gets torpedoed by a U-boat whose crew doesn't know the war is over.

#2: The rag-tag fugitive fleet from Battlestar Galactica, in it's search for Earth, crosses Klingon space. A Federation fleet comes to the rescue, and after they beat up the Klingons, they have a 'suprise party' for the pursuing Cylons!!

(I wrote both of these in high school! 1980s.)
