Some of you may remember about a month ago I requested prayers for my aunts and also my grandmother. Well things have gotten both better and worse. Nana went home to be with God, so that is a blessing. The one aunt who was facing amputation of her foot only had to have a small bit of tissue removed, so thanks for your prayers.
The Aunt with heart problems finally got the defib pacemaker put in. But now she is not doing so well. She was diagnosed with cancer based on the results of a test on a suspicious bit of tissue in her throat. Some of the other tests have been inconclusive and I have not heard what the results were on a retest of the original sample. They did remove some polyps in her intestines, but they were not cancerous, thank God. However she is also loosing a lot of blood and they have not as of tuesday been able to track down where the blood is going. One good positive is she is staying in good spirits. Another blessing is that they have transferred her to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, one of the best in the country. It is certainly the best I have seen. However that is where my uncle died, my mom was there with him for a month or two. And now again she is there with my Aunt. So I worry for Mom. She is strong both emotionally and in faith, but I do worry for her.
Another Aunt was put in the ICU a week or so ago and is out of the hospital now. This and the aunt above are my Mom's two older sisters. The younger sister is the one who faced amputation. This is a further stressor on my Mom.
And let me add the kicker to all this. MY mom's step sister was found in the yard about 3 am some night last week or early this week by her neighbors. She was alive, but she had suffered a stroke. It was pouring rain when they found her. Now we don't have much contact with that side of the family now, but she was a favorite of mine for a time when I was younger.
It reminds me of the Ziggy cartoon where he says "I know you don't test anybody beyond what they can bear Lord, but it would be ok with me if in the coming year You did not have so much faith in me."
