  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all! I was wondering if someone could recommend a good Bible study book for family usage (dad, mom and teenage daughter)? My husband and I spend time in the word daily, but we're having a tough time getting our daughter to do so. Thanks in advance!

The Precepts class is one offered by many churches, and is very good. Any age and gender can be involved.

Also, Lifeway (or your local bookstore) has a series of books that are superb. I've used a couple, but the only one I can remember by name is the Max Lucado series. It uses a series of questions about a passage and includes a practical application commentary with each passage. I like them a lot, and they are colorful enough and modern enough to interest youth.

You are off to a good start with interesting your daughter. The first thing is to show interest yourselves, as parents. Then include her. Then try to get her in a youth group where she wants to go. If it's at a different church, let her go, as she will likely be drawn to a class where there are people her age that she is friends with. I pray she will gain interest. Try not to pressure her too much, as pressure often leads to resentment, and a closing of her heart to the Word in later years.

Also, check out this thread for internet studies: http://www.christianforums.com/t833329-anyone-know-any-good-links-for-in-depth-bible-studies.html

God bless you,
Dave
