Hi everybody.

This link was sent to me via e-mail from a friend of mine that knows I was baptized a couple of years ago. I haven't heard from her in a while so I don't know if she "studied her way out of Christianity"

or what, but I'll ask her.

Anyway, I found it ironic that I got this today, for several reasons.

I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks of these, and if this skews anyone's perception of the inerrancy of prophets.

God bless!

PS....I'm unshaken in my faith after looking some of these up, and am not trying to promote people turning away from scripture, I just thought these would be interesting to go over in light of all the recent EGW debates.

As a group why don't we go over each one of them in here? We can discuss one. Come to an agreement on what we discover about it, and then move on to the next one.

You can even have your friend take a look at what we come up with.

I think that's a great idea!

I have my last final tomorrow though, so I may disappear from time-to-time. I studied a lot today and my brain feels FULL, but I haven't studied everything I need to know for the test, and I have to keep my A :)

Wooba, we don't have to do it tonight since you're not feeling well and I need to study soon.

We can start over the weekend if you'd like.

And, I'll definitely send up a prayer for you! I felt lousy all day yesterday, but feel great today.

That's OK. I too have limited time for such concentration. Things like this involve research. So I have no problem with taking this slow.

It is better to take our time with it anyway, since it isn't wise to move too fast with this kind of stuff.

I agree, it's not something that we want to just rush through.

And also, I think before we even start that we need to decide what it means if there really are contradictions between the prophets. Does it mean that we throw out everything they said?

For instance, if John contradicts Matthew, Mark, and Luke....do we throw out everything John said in scripture?

Or do we decide that humans took the infallible Word of God and misquoted it?

You should point out that this kind of claim assumes facts that aren't in evidence (given how these things usually go). And secondly, just because one Gospel mentions something that none of the others do that does not mean that they are contradicting each other--another assumption they make.

Unless you have lots of commentaries, lexicons and other reference works I would suggest that you'll bog down real quick. When I dealt with them I picked simple one's like do turtles have voice (SOS 2:12), did the Bible writers really believe that mythical creatures exist (unicorns, etc.) and does the Bible really say that PI = 3? In every case, I was able to show that they were wrong. So, I asked muyself: if they are wrong on these simple one's what are the odds that they would be right on the more complex? The same type of argument works on the anti-SDA/EGW critics as well.

My question really is this David...if it can be proven that there's an absolutely contradiction between two prophets, what would the result of that be?

If they don't pass the biblical "test", then what would it mean?

I'm not necessarily saying any of the points on that website can be proven, I'm just asking what it would mean if they were indeed true contradictions?

Would people throw out everything that particular prophet said, if it's proven he contradicted others?

And, oh, I totally agree that just because one prophet mentions something that another one doesn't is NOT clear evidence of a contradiction. In order for it to be a contradiction they had to have said two different things.
