Faith?

What is your faith based on? I think for me growing up in a Christian family has given me deep faith in God. I believe in Creation and remember in 8th grade or so when the science teacher was teaching Evolution I excused myself to the nurse. I am a very literal believer of the Bible...what it says and how it was done, I believe it. I can't put restraints on God because it's something that people find unbelievable.

So...tell me about your faith.

Faith is given by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God! He gives faith to as many as believes. So I believe that faith is a given and given by His Word.

My faith is based on experience with the Lord, know what I mean? When I first became a Christian, my faith was kind of like falling backwards and believing someone would catch you. It was those tiny steps that showed me God was trustworthy when no one else was. I had a hard time trusting - but God just loved on me and sent people who loved me no matter what. I have seen God do SO MANY things in my life that had to have been Him and nothing else (just like all of us have). I know He is ultimately in control and I believe that nothing happens in my life that hasn't 'passed through His hands' so I can become more like Jesus. God is awesome. My heart bows in adoration and reverence to Him... . Praise you Abba Father!!!

[bible]Ephesians 2:1-9[/bible]In verse 8[bible]Ephesians 2:8[/bible]I read that even my very faith is the gift of God. I believe that each of us are guided by the Holy spirit and imbued with a certain capacity for faith. Someone with a greater capacity will find it easier to believe, someone with a lesser capacity will need more convincing or proof. This capacity is not the sole determinant of who will be saved ... we also have free will to choose whom we will follow[bible]Joshua 24:15[/bible]and must hear the truth before we have the opportunity to believe it[bible]Romans 10:8-14[/bible]. Thus, a combination of capacity, choice, and hearing is the source of my faith.

I think it is wonderful news that God has given me my faith as a gift.[bible]Ephesians 1:3-14[/bible]and[bible]2 Thessalonians 2:13-14[/bible]reiterate that God chooses us. This reassures me that my salvation is in God's hands and doesn't depend on me measuring up.
