Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Mark 5:25-26 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years…

1. This woman had an issue of blood- Physical problem…
2. 12 years, suffered many things at the hands of physicians… Mental and emotional problems…
3. Spent all she had, financial problems… Must have been wealthy
4. Was nothing better but rather grew worse… All hope gone…

This woman was a Jew but because of her illness she was unable to go to the synagogue, she had to declare herself unclean…

She was unable to go to church for 12 years, unable to take part in any of the feasts…

She could not turn off the voice of circumstances; this is also the world’s problem…

We have the answer; the voice of faith is greater than the voice of circumstances…

Mark 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus…

1. Jesus is the greater voice, greater than the voice of circumstances…
2. The beginning of her answer… she heard of Jesus… faith comes by hearing Rom 10:17… When you hear the word God will cause faith to come…
3. You must decide to listen to the greater voice…
4. People hold onto the voice of circumstances and not the word of God… my sickness, my poverty, my problem…
5. We need to own the promise of God and not the problem…

Mark 5:28 For she said… Her deliverance started with her mouth, her confession…

Mark 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

She said if I may touch his clothes I will be whole… nothing missing and nothing broken… Her confession set the limits of her faith…

God and man meet at the place of faith…

She said… Her faith first moved her mouth… She began to speak the answer rather than the problem…

Mark 5:29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up;

She believed, she said, she acted and God showed up… this was the proof…

Mark 5:29 and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

She felt she was healed, notice she wasn’t made whole, he faith was that she would be whole, right now she was just healed…

She believed, she said, she acted and then she felt… Most of us want to feel something first…

If we feel it we will act on it… Don’t sit around waiting for a feeling… Start out by faith and act on it…

Don’t base your faith on your feelings, don’t base it on your 5 senses, base it on the word of God…

Mark 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him…

1. Faith caused the power of God to flow towards this woman…
2. Many were touching him but the touch of faith was different…
3. When Jesus knew power was gone out of him he looked to see…

This woman first had a faith testimony but when she acted it became a truth testimony…

Matt. 14:36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

She set a faith precedent, many others heard her testimony and acted accordingly, if God will heal one he will heal all…

Mark 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling… It may look like a risk in the natural but in the spiritual it is assurance…

This woman wasn’t made whole yet, I wonder what would have happened if she had slinked off into the crowd and not stood up and testified, she would have went away healed but not whole…

She stood and testified or confessed her healing a second time and this time she was made whole, two often we stop short of the blessing, too often we get a little relief and we stop there… Jesus wants us to go on until we are restored or made whole…

Mark 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Jesus completed what this woman began in faith…

He called her daughter or he brought her back into the family, he healed her emotions after 12 years…

Jesus is the living word of God; she reached out by faith and touched the word of God… We still have the word today and we can reach out by faith and touch the word of God too…

I want you to notice something important here…Jesus wasn’t looking for her to heal her; he didn’t come looking for her, she didn’t ask him or present her case or cry out in the street, Jesus had to ask, who touched me…

Jesus wasn’t looking for her to heal her; she was looking for him to be healed… She went after him, she touched him and her touch was different from all the others that were touching him that day because her touch drew on the anointing…

She didn’t say… O Lord if it be thy will, she laid hold of Jesus and was healed…

It’s our responsibility to step out in faith and seek the blessing from Jesus…

Awesome post!!

We often teach that physical healing is in the atonement...and this is true. We say it this way because every Christian knows that spiritual healing is in the atonement. But if we look at the atonement, we see that it is much more than just spiritual.

It is wholeness.

The woman was healed, yes. And as PastorMike points out, then she was made whole. I envision this as not only did the flow of blood stop, but all physical side effects of having this condition for twelve years were healed; her emotional distress over it was healed; she now had ability that what she lay her hand to prospered, so that she could pay off any debts that she owed to the doctors over the years. Her joy returned, her misery abated. And much, much more.

She was made whole.

When we have a physical need: yes, seek to receive your healing....but remember that the Gospel message is one of wholeness, completeness, nothing missing nothing broken. Seek all that He has for you...

Wholeness.

Shalom.

Again...awesome post Mike. It blessed me!!

Yes, everything that the sickness caused was restored, spiritually, physically, materially, socially etc...

I thought I'd share my favorite parable of faith in action.
Luke chapter 10 verses 25-37
On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher, he asked, what must I do to inherit eternal life? What is written in the Law? he replied. How do you read it? He answered: Love the lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and Love your neighbor as yourself. You have answered correctly, Jesus replied. Do this and you will live. But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, And who is my neighbor? In reply Jesus said: A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too , a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. Look after him said, and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers. The expert in the law replied, The one who had mercy on him. Jesus told him, Go and do likewise.

I like what it says in James chapter 2 verse 18
Show me your faith without deeds and I'll show you my faith by what I do.
One of us appears to be way off. But I only quoted the bible.
Take care.

What "deeds" do think James is referring to?

I'm not being judgmental. You quoted Romans chapter 10 verse 17
That faith comes from hearing the message, we all have different amounts of faith or we wouldn't be here. I'm just discussing the bible.
And we know without faith it is impossible to please God.

This woman was a Jew but because of her illness she was unable to go to the synagogue, she had to declare herself unclean…

Mark 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling…

Hi Mike... I did a little research on this and according to the Levitical law, not only the person having an issue of blood was unclean, but also those who touched the unclean person became unclean themselves (Lev. 15:19-33).

When Jesus came on the scene, it was not unreasonable for this woman to press through the crowd "on all sides," even on her hands and knees and suffer the shame and possible condemnation of the crowd for breaking the Levitical Law. Not only that, how many people did she touch and, how many touched her as she touched the hem of Jesus' garment which could have made them unclean also for a period...

Those who were unclean were responsible for warning others of their uncleanness or at least avoiding public exposure, and they could expect very harsh treatment if detected. Could this be the reason for this woman "fearing and trembling" as she confessed what had happened to her. (Just a thought)... Luke said she confessed this to Jesus before all the people (Luke 8:47).

This reflects a determination and humility, important elements of faith of this woman and that many people desiring healing, are not committed enough to give. As you pointed out, Jesus did not come looking for her, she, without worrying about the consequences of the law, crawled on her hands and knees to get to Him... Amazing faith...

Good post, Mike...

Funny you should say that when in your last post you said..

One of us appears to be way off.

Sounds judgmental to me...

Anyway according to the rules you can only post fellowship posts here without a WoF icon!

And your post wasn't in the spirit of fellowship at all...

Thank you Pastor for the great post! I believe the God kinda faith was manifested with Elijah and the woman who's son had died. She had faith that by finding the man of God that God would raise her son. She knew Elijah was anointed. But what she did not realize by her knowing to go to the man of God ,it was her faith that a living God used Elijah that raised her son from death.
