In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. FAITH COMETH BY HEARING

Romans 10:17
So faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Faith cometh by hearing a testimony, and hearing this testimony confirms the word of God is true and is for us all.

James 5:14-15
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him , anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick.

A faith testimony from my husband..........................

About a year into Rod's walk with the Lord, he had an accident at work. He was taking a large shop vac down to the basement to clean the large heating boilers. He slipped on the steps down. His arm went one way and the vac another. There was a snap between his shoulders and neck. His vertebrae were misaligned and the nerves were pinched. His left arm was in constant pain.

Rod went to the chiropractor for a good two months. He went through physical therapy with heat treatments and the realignment of his neck. This just made the pain worse.

Rod read the scripture in James 5:14-15. He understood it and claimed it. He went to the elders of the church he attended and asked that they anoint him with oil and pray for his healing. They refused for about five days to do this and tried to talk Rod out of it. (they had not his faith) Finally they did what Rod had asked and anointed him and prayed for his healing. He quit going to the chiropractor and continued to suffer with the pain for another two weeks. All the while holding stedfast in his healing and claiming it to others. One evening the pain was so great he cried out unto the Lord and asked, "Am I now a lier in what I am claiming to others of my healing? Your word says I will be healed. I still have so much pain." Rod was then healed instantly. No misalignment, no pain.

You see, that was Rod's prayer of faith. He had to fulfill the entire word,
James5:15 says And the prayer of faith shall save the sick.

Matthew 9:22
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Matthew 22:29-30
Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened.

Acts 14:9-10
The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had FAITH TO BE HEALED. Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

CAN YOU HEAR THE VERSES? IN YOUR MIND
Rom 10:17
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Matt 13:9-15
9 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?"
11 He answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
12 "For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
13 "Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
14 "And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.'
16 "But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;
17 "for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
18 "Therefore hear the parable of the sower:
19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.
1 Cor 14:10-11
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance.
11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me.
1 Cor 14:7-8
7 Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played?
8 For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
Rom 8:27-28
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Matt 24:25-26
25 "See, I have told you beforehand.
26 "Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.
John 14:26
26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Eph 2:10
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Matt 4:4
4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
Luke 8:11
11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Mark 4:14
14 "The sower sows the word.
John 16:13-14
13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
Rev 22:18-19
18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book;
19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
II Jn 1:9
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
(NKJ)
It takes a whole verse to make a spiritual principle. Dont be like the hypocrites that stand on a piece of a verse. If you get a piece of a verse go look it up so you dont make a mistake. There are one of two reasons you get a piece of a verse. One is satan trying to deceive you by quoting a piece, but you can block that by looking it up. Two is the Holy Spirit is trying to talk to you and satan is hindering Him. So go look it up, so you will know.

Greetings Lisabeth,
FAITH COMETH BY HEARING
Romans 10:17
So faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Faith cometh by hearing a testimony, and hearing this testimony confirms the word of God is true and is for us all.
I was interested in your testimony, and it is true that Jesus can heal and does heal. Nevertheless I am a bit reticent to accept every claim to healing. I accept very strongly the healing of the lame man in Acts 3, and to me this is a greater testimony than all the modern written claims of healing, as this healing is by means of the Apostles and is also part of the inspired word of God.

Your quotation of Romans 10:17 is a little out of context, even if what you say is partially true. You say "Faith cometh by hearing a testimony", but the context is faith cometh by hearing the gospel preached by the Apostles concerning the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53.
Romans 10:15-17 (KJV): "15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Kind regards
Trevor

No the verse says the "Word of God". What is the Word of God or who? Jesus is the word of God and the entire fullness of Christ as revealed and manifest to us by the Holy Spirit. If you are taught that God only heals maybe sometimes, then that will be the amount of faith you have. But if you're taught that because of the "suffering servant" you mentioned that "by his stripes you are healed"; well then, that is what you will believe. And like the Bible says "God is not mocked, whatsoever you sow, that will you also reap." If you sow into doubt and unbelief, then you will reap maybe and sometimes. But if you sow into faith according to His Word, then you will reap what the word of God says you will.

Was Paul lacking in faith when he left Trophimus at Miletum?
2 Timothy 4:20 (KJV): "Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick."

Paul wasn't the one needing faith. When Jesus healed the sick, many times they were healed due to their own faith. "As your faith is, so shall it be unto you". We know absolutely nothing about this situation or the circumstances involved with Trophimus. Are there Christians sick today? Absolutely. Are there Christians who sin today? Absolutely.
That still doesn't change the fact that Jesus has already deafeted sin AND death.

In Christ,
Denton
