Hi. This is my first time posting on this board. I'm in need of some advice.
I'm at 41 weeks and 1 day. I have a high risk pregnancy due to blood clotting disorder (caused two previous miscarriages). I cannot have an epidural due to the meds I have to take to thin my blood. My baby's activity has been a little bit on the low side during the whole third trimester, which also concerns my doctor (since it may be a sign of a weak or somewhat ineffective placenta). I also had signs of pre-term labor at 25 weeks and have had regularly had contractions every 10-20 minutes since then (Sometimes I have had contractions as close as 4 min apart for hours -- it didn't turn into anything).
Yesterday, my doctor tried to induce labor with pitocin. I started with a soft cervix, was 70% effaced, and 2-3cm dilated, but my cervix was posterior. After 12 hours of pitocin and regular, strong contractions that were 1.5 - 2 min apart, I made zero progress. He gave me the option of going home to rest & eat, so I did. I will have to go back again to be induced in a couple days if I don't go into labor on my own.
I've tried a lot of natural induction methods. Most of them either soften the cervix or cause contractions -- both of which are not my problem. I have a soft cervix and have had a lot of contractions for a very long time. My biggest problem might be that my cervix is posterior. I've been doing a lot of walking, but that hasn't made much of a difference.
I am very worried that this will end in a c-section, since my OB is concerned about the placenta not being effective for much longer. Does anybody have any suggestions for avoiding this????
