I had to read part of the book of Ezra for one of my classes, so i did using my regular study bible, and just for kicks i wanted to look it up in my OSB to see how it compares.
I was so confused. I knew that there are two Ezras in the LXX, and i think i found what i was looking for, but in my regular study bible is the book "2 Esdras" (it has a special section for the Apocrypha in the middle) and i could not find that at all in my OSB.
Anyone know how these books line up? The Septuagint isn't missing any of these is it?

The first few pages of the OSB, that are right around the table of contents, should have a chart comparing the Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Protestant canons.
that's partially what confused me in the first place

i get confused with all the different numberings ... its just another book ... read the introduction thats given, i dont recall exactly what its about.

That's right. And 1 Ezra in the OSB would be otherwise apocryphal. I like it, especially the story about the question the king (Darius?) asks and the three answers. If I remember correctly the last one to answer is Zerubbabel, who is in the geneology of Christ. There is a lot of overlap with 2 Ezra and Nehemiah.

The Esdras books are numbered differently depending on which Bible you used, so it gets very confusing. 1 Ezra in the OSB is actually 3 Esdras in the Latin Vulgate, which is canonical to us Orthodox but regarded as Apocryphal by Roman Catholics and Protestants. 2 Esra in the OSB is actually Ezra, consider canonical by all Christians and Jews. Outside the Latin Vulgate, there are numbered differently. 2 Esdras (4 Esdras in the Latin Vulgate) is consider canonical by the Russian Orthodox Church; it is not included in the OSB though. Outside the Latin Vulgate and the OSB, there are numbered differently. The best thing to do if you are using a Bible that is not the OSB but do contain the extra books we considered canonical, compare each and see which are which.

thanks :D
i did a comparison this morning, and found out that
1 Esdras in regular study bible = 1 Ezra in OSB
Ezra in regular study bible = 2 Ezra in OSB
2 Esdras in regular study bible = ?????
my roomate (a religion major) thought that 2 Esdras would be Ezra and Nehemiah but that doesn't seem to be the case...

WHY CAN'T THERE JUST BE ONE CANON?!
