17Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them.


I have read this verse in several versions. Is this talking about sex toys in the image of a male?

I'm going on the assumption that you are serious, but your question "Is this talking about sex toys in the image of a male?" really cracked me up. I mind would have never seen that possibility in that Scripture had you not said that, so it was really unexpected to read it put like that.

Ezekiel 16 is GOD confronting the heart of His people in Jerusalem - using a beautiful metaphor of a love relationship to reveal what was going on. GOD had poured so much into them and given them so much, and then they used all their blessings to create idols, false gods, in the shape of humans and commited idolatry by worshipping them instead of GOD. The terminology GOD uses, "harlotry", "prostitution", "whoredom", and the like, are GOD's way of showing them in physical wording what they were doing spiritually to themselves and against Him.
