  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Recently, I've come to the conclusion that my life is missing something. I feel empty, and feel that life has no meaning without something greater than myself.

As such, I've begun to explore the Christian faith, and from the start of this exploration, I've felt oddly empowered by something. Could be psychological, or could be God asking me where I've been! Is the longing for God enough to create a God in one's mind, or is it really Him? I sense a feeling of peace and purpose in the Christians I know, and deeply want to know that peace.

Hope I'm on the right track! I'm tired of being deceived by false and harmful "prophets".

Might I reccomend posting in Christian Only sections if you are interested in the Christian opinon of Christianity and the Non-Christian and Christain areas if you are looking for an outside vs. inside view? Basically, though a pagan myself, if you want to learn about the inside of a religion, you should ask the people inside. Most of the threads comparring and constrasting religion turn into 'we're right', 'no you're not' arguments that aren't terribly productive for information gathering.

Search well and good luck finding what fits.

Dearest DLT, first welcome to CF! We are so glad you have come to our gathering. The first thing I will tell you is you are feeling His Awesome Presence for only His Presence can fill the emptiness. As a wise person once said we all have a God-sized hole in us that only HE can fill.
Second, this Christian walk is about personal relationship with Jesus. Seeking out intimacy with Him. You will find as many varied ideas as there are people about Christianity, so what you MUST do is study His Holy Word. Learn of Jesus. Do not look too much to man, ANY man for we are all striving toward the goal but NONE of us have arrived. Some are a bit more mature in their walk, the way to tell is in His Word. Look at their 'fruit of the Spirit' Do they walk in love and compassion most of the time? Do they reach out with love and not condemnation and judgment? Are they happy joy-filled people? Jesus told us to seek those that walk in the Fruits of The Spirit (That which is produced by His Holy Spirit in their life.)
As to harmful prophets, we were warned about the false prophets and how to tell them from the real prophets of God again, in HIS Holy Word. If you wish to ask any questions I would be glad to help you DLT anytime. Just PM (Private Message) me.
May Jesus bless your journey toward Him and make it as wonderful as mine is!!! Maybe with a lot less bumps and valleys though....:D
Be blessed!

God Bless you DLT

Keep seeking after the truth, ask the Father, and I agree with Cyber in all she said, search the Word of God. And Welcome!! I pray that you find the answers you are looking for and experience the unfathomable depths of God.

There is no pit so deep that the love of God is not deeper still.

Love your friend, eve:pink:

I would like to thank you all for the kind words and warm welcome. At this point, I'm what might be called an anxious seeker, and I trust that the truth and the way will be revealed to me in God's good time, and in a manner of God's choosing.

I've been reading "The Purpose Driven Life", and while many would say it's simplistic, it nevertheless has given me some insights. Also, in the past, I've studied CS Lewis's "Mere Christianity", and found it intellectually satisfying. You know, as Lewis said, it all comes down to the fact that Jesus was who he said he was, or is the greatest liar in human history. There is no ther choice.

Hi, I've been studying for a year with the Jehovah's witness organization. It is called a cult by some, and the New world translation has it's critics. I'm not sure what to think, but I'm studying the bible. Baptised in 1971, but they say I need to do it again. I'm Finding the many translations a little confusing.
