Mine's a coconut crab, which my wife and I actually saw in the wild while we were on honeymoon on Niue in the South Pacific. Wonderful place that I'd highly recommend visiting if you're in the neighbourhood...

My previous iteration were the Obelisk of Light from Command and Conquer, which fit with my old username, and a nicotine molecule because it looked interesting.

Alfred Russell Wallace, because he deserves credit for the theory of evolution. And, I like to, in some small way, point out that evolution is not all about Darwin, but about thousands if not tens of thousands of other scientists all working on, verifying, refining, extending, the theory.

Mine is a sunrise . I’m decidedly not a morning person and that sunrise was so spectacular, I stumbled around, tripping over my feet , looking for my phone and my glasses to take that photo. I just like it

My avatar is Philip Melanchthon, a disciple of Luther and a German scholastic theologian and teacher. He was trained in law before becoming a follower of Luther's teachings . I chose him as my avatar because I identify with him, though at times I suppose I am more like Luther and given to hyperbole and a good argument.

My custom description under my picture says in Latin "My first name is Christian, my last name is Catholic". It's a quote by Melanchthon describing his take on being Lutheran.
