Experiences of being saved?

Hi!

I'm not entirely sure this is an appropriate question for this forum so apologies in advance in case they're required later on!

I was curious to know about individual experiences of being saved, if anyone would wish to share their personal experience?

Several things have happened in my life last week that I believe to be my personal 'wake up' call, hence my interest in learning about others experiences

Anyone happy to share? (PM or here in the forums, I don't mind, I'd just love to know!)

God found me when I was in trouble. I was agnostic at the time, but things started to happen when I called on His name for help. I figured I better read up on Him, as my prayer was, "I don't know how to believe in you". I can't say it's been easy going, but I have had peace and absolute conviction that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, built up in me since that day.

Astral, you might do some reading down in the "Testimonies" folder in the Christians only section--you can't post, but you can certainly read!

I don't think my experience is particularly helpful, as I have never had a "moment" of being saved--I simply had a time when I was finally willing to answer God's gentle and persistent calls. I finally worked up the courage to go to church, and found that I was home.

"Wake up calls" aren't the same as salvation.In fact sometimes God sends wake up calls to people who are about to go under for the last time.In John 3:3-9 you'll find Jesus describing what is required for salvation : thw water baptism which is basically a public profession of faith and the baptism of the Holy Ghost which God Himself sends when He feels we are ready for salvation.Most people react very emotionally when they are given this experience because it puts people into a personal relationship with God.In my own case I didn't know untill much later what had happened to me.At first the only sign I had of the Holy Spirit was my sudden new rabid interest in religion coupled with the ability to easily understand the bible.The Holy Spirit explained to me even difficult to understand passages in the bible.In the beginning I thought I had just suddenly become really smart.I later learned that God had saved me by sending His Holy Spirit to dwell in me and it was the Holy Spirit that was explaining God's word to me.Definitely an amazing and life-changing experience!
