Well on my way? Darn, I had thought I was already there.Wrigley said:Good for you. You're well on your way to being a TBM.
Eldy said:I am currently an ex-LDS but must say that if God sees fit to show me that the LDS church is true, I will be right back there.
Oh, if there is anything I have done it has been to take my time. I have spent years since leaving the LDS church reading and teaching the "problems" with the faith. Tell you what, not one of them is without a valid answer. I have sought the will of God on this issue over and over. I know that nothing I do can pay for my sins and that ONLY Jesus saves through faith in His atoning sacrifice. This does not though negate the repsonsibility to act out our faith. When we come to Christ and have Him working in our lives then we are expected to step out and BE Jesus to the world.Godisgood said:Eldy,
Please don't rush into things too hastily. The LDS church, if it is true, should withstand scrutiny. Please do careful research before making any decisions you may regret. The prayer Heavenly Father wants to hear is one of being sickend by our sin and a desire that He change us, trusting in Christ Jesus as the propitiation for our sin. He would not have come to this earth if we were able to keep all the commandments. Be sure you are trusting in *Him* and seeking wisdom from *Him* rather than from created beings. Eve sought wisdom from created beings rather than from God. Also, in the Garden of Eden, the serpent [Satan] tempted Eve with what it is he most desires for himself. Satan also tempted Jesus the same way. It stands to reason he would use his same tactics to ensnare us.
Please don't rush into baptism too hastily. Please!

If there is anything that I have done it is to scrutinize. The LDS faith has withstood it beautifully and the peace I feel once again in my heart since starting to re-investigate is enough for me to have the faith in Jesus to step out.
Without any haste and with much prayer and investigation I have decided to seek out re-baptism. I will be meeting with my Bishop this next week.

Yeah, but then again, icons mean nothing. And I do not at all deny the power of what happened on the cross. My salvation is all of Jesus and Jesus alone through the power of what He did for me.GodsWordisTrue said:I guess it's time to remove your cross icon.
1 Corinthians 1:18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
calgal said:Sorry to hear that (and GWIT is correct : the cross is no longer of any value to you).
Eldy said:I trust Jesus and Jesus alone for salvation. I have faith in Him. I believe in Him.
Eldy said:So then the idea of Once Saved Always Saved is false? Hmmm, I guess it should be Once Saved Always Saved unless of course you become LDS at which time you will lose your relationship with the One you love and will be burned forever and ever and ever in hell.
Do you even hear yourself?
I cannot believe I once held onto these tripe filled ideas.
I trust Jesus and Jesus alone for salvation. I have faith in Him. I believe in Him. I seem to remember that the Bible you read somewhere says something to the effect of
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life....
Maybe you do not believe this or maybe you have just decided to let someone else distort it to fit what they want it to mean but to me it says to have faith in Jesus and you will not perish.

I guess I find it funny that this scripture would now be used against me as if I am perishing now. When I was a confessing evangelical, it was because I trusted Jesus as my only hope of salvation.
Eldy said:Nothing has changed except I believe that the LDS faith is truth. That does not somehow condemn me except in the eyes of the evangelical church. I am only concerned with how Jesus sees me and I know that He loves me and I am His.
If infact I am following a different Christ then the one you espouse who would burn someone up for their belief that does not lign up with calgal's, then I say God bless the real Jesus who came as the Savior of the WORLD!calgal said:Where did I say I believed OSAS? I do not. And I am sorry to say that you follow a different christ as a mormon (see Matthew 24:24).
Was in the distribution center yesterday and almost picked up one of the most beautiful paintings of the crucifixion I have seen in many years. Imagine that.GodsWordisTrue said:Are you saying that LDS preach the cross? I don't think so. I am not using scripture against you. I don't have to judge whether or not you are saved. But if someone has been saved by Christ they know that it is the preaching of the cross that is the power of God (not the preaching of Gethsemane).
And this is the typical jargon that has convinced me to leave this forum. Why have you gone from believing in one God to believing in many? That's really sad.
