• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You are basically allowed to do anything that you have already been doing, as long as it is low impact. If you have been doing tae-bo for about 6 months, then it will be okay to continue. Now if you have been playing tackle football or something like that, I think that should stop LOL.

You can do anything (that I can think of at the moment), but don't push yourself too hard and don't allow yourself to get overheated. Overheating above a certain temperature is bad, mainly.

I walk everyday, and I've been thinking I will start doing an exercise video I have as well when I am up to it. It is not a pregnancy video but it has a low impact routine that should still work for me. I might have to modify it a bit though later because there is a lot of bending over and dipping and that wouldn't be real comfortable.

I wish I could go swimming because that would feel so good when really pregnant, but can't afford a YMCA membership.

The idea for me is both to stay in shape and to make delivery easier, when you are in good shape delivery is supposed to be easier.

I've been told if you are already running regularly, it is okay to continue, but don't start if you haven't been already. I know two girls who continued running until their 6th month and then switched to walking, after birth they lost their weight really fast too.

I know a lady who was a marathon runner.

She modified her routien but ran all the way through her 7th month (with some tummy support). She didn't do any "long" runs. Her last long one was a 10k at 4 months (a little over 6 miles).

My sister's friend, who has been a runner for years, ran comfortabley through her 5th month, but then when she started poking out it became uncomfortable even with support, she quit running, but still did cardio an hour a day 5 days a week through her 8th month, and cut down in her 9th.

The main thing to remember is that these women were VERY active for years before they got pregnant, and they actually REDUCED their activity.

Some women never exercise, and decide to when they find out they are pregnant.. these are women who need to stick to the low/no impact. Work up a routien and stop or slow down anytime they feel overheated.. and be very careful not to dehydrate.

I've heard that, as has been said, you can keep doing what you have been doing BUT with a few exceptions. Nothing that could force air into the vagina - dangerous anyway, but with the extra blood it is extra so. No double leg lifts (lay on back and lift both legs together). And as you get bigger, be careful about things where you can fall, and don't strain your back. Also, no jumping (trampoline).

Books like "what to expect..." will give you a list.

Yep, my OB told me that if I had already been running, then I could keep it up. With my first pregnancy I had already been running for years. My OB said to just stop when it started to get uncomfortable. So I stopped in my 6th month. My belly began pulling at my sides....and it hurt. Then I switched to riding an exercise bike.

I mentioned running, because one of my doula clients was a runner (had been forEver) and continued to run all the way through her first pregnancy. She strained ligaments and it really hindered her labor. Her abdominal muscle (runs down the front from breastbone to pubic bone) split also... which is rather unusual in a first pregnancy.

I brought up running as high impact because it Can cause complications in late pregnancy.

I ran until past my 3 months when breathing go too difficult for me. So I started swimming.
One of my teachers ran a marathon in her 8th month . Since she was such a huge runner and did marathons all the time it was not a biggy for her...
