Nor really sure if this post is allowed or if it's in the right place but here goes anyway.

I need the help of a fitness professional to develop a plan to help me shed some pounds. I can't really afford the services of a personal trainer so I'm hoping there is someone on the forum with experience in this area that would be willing to help me get back to a healthy weight.

Well, what has worked for me is a two fold approach. First off exercise, and second, Diet. Cut back on sugars (coke, soda etc.), junk food, like chocolates and candy bars, etc. One other variable is age, because it is a bit harder to lose pounds the older you are, because your metabolism generally slows down.

For diet, as a general rule, stop eating fast food (mcDonald's, burger king, etc) and change that to a sandwich like Subway or Blimpie, if you eat out like that. If you eat at home most of the time, try to have meals that have a vegetable, a lite pasta, and a lowfat meat like chicken or pork (grilled or bbq, instead of deep fried). I could go on more about diet but hopefully you get the idea.

For exercise, the question is, what do you like to do? Running, cycling, etc. I have found that diet alone doesn't work very well, unless you are well disciplined, and can make long term changes in your diet and stick to them. Diet with exercise is the way to go. It is really more of a paradigm shift rather than a quick fix.

I'm a fitness instructor, working on my personal Trainer Certification. I would be happy to help you find a diet and exercise plan that works for you. I don't feel that I can just tell you what to eat or do without meeting you in person, but I can lead you towards some good resources you can find at your library or on the internet if you explain to me a bit more about your goals and interests. Feel free to PM me.
