  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

here's my hypothesis of how this quote was invented...

- creationist need some way of explaining why 99.85% of biologists accept evolution.

- he believes it's a big conspiracy. he believes "it would be insane to believe in evolution when you can see the truth for yourself." and "All government work, research grants, papers, big college lectures -- everything would stop" for any scientist who denies evolution.

- of course, he can't find a real biologist who would say either of those things, since they are both obviously false.

- creationist makes up a scientist "j" to put words into the mouth of. of course no one can verify any of this since "j" wishes to remain anonymous. how convenient!

I believe it has been shown (maybe even to you) how evolution has helped science.

I find it so amazing that so many scientists "Know" evolution is wrong, yet no one wants to talk about it because they will lose their job. Seems strange to pass up such an opertunity to make your name known in the scientific world, and win a nobel prize. Unless of course, they "know" that their beliefs are based on preconcieved opinions and are not science. Hmmm.

No. Evos constantly assert that evolution helps with all the things that Williams mentioned, but they ae never able to back it up.
This has already been asnwered.
Yes, there is still a majority of scientists who believe evolution, either because they want to despite the evidence, or the many years of brainwashing.

Then here you go, a quick post by Winace about how Evolution is used in biology,
http://www.christianforums.com/t97010-real-world-applications-of-evolutionary-biology.html

Despite what evidence? Again, if there is so much evidence around why doesn't at least one scientist write a paper about it and win the nobel prize? Oh yeah, I forgot, the giant world conspiracy that is brain washing people to accept evolution. Or it could be that this evidence is only valid for creationism when you come to the conclusion "creationism is right no matter what." first. You do know that the CRS (among others) requires all members to agree that creationism and a young earth are absolute truth before they are allowed to publish a paper in the CRS journal. I often find it ironic since it is creationists who often claim scientists are being dogmatic.
