Sorry you feel that way. Do I know what you are talking about? Well, kind of, I suppose, but it is such a foreign concept to me, I don't understand it. It is certainly not my plan to bring irrationality to the discussion. To me, it seems that your position (that Christians have meaning in their lives, but atheists do not) is irrational; at least the way you presented it.

Im saying we all meet the same end in this short life. That's obvious. This world is temporary.

Im also saying that i wont actually die, but will be alive after death in the eternal world

Firstly, that is not a provable fact, its a belief.

Seconfly, eternity is a very long time. For me, your belief is a nightmare. I have no trouble with my time being limited and have great meaning in my life. Eternal life on the other hand would be a cruel thing to endure.

But you ALSO said that this "hope" gives you more meaning in life [on earth]. And I disagree. If anything, it DEvalues this life. If you are looking forward to doing something fun after you get off work, does work suddenly have more meaning to you?

No, i said it gives me more life, not better quality necessarily. Its about quantity, not quality. However living forever does seem much better than waiting for cancer or a heart attack to kill us.

The love i have felt is PROOF that eternal life is better than anything on earth. I have felt the deepest love from God. His love is deeper than what we have with other people. Its the greatest love. People do all kinds of things to find happiness and its only temporary, but what God gives is not only much better but also eternal. I wouldn't trade a million dollars for the hope and love i feel lately.

I just recently read a book written by Eben Alexander, MD. He is a brain surgeon and because of that he understands the brain very well. He recently had a near death experience and described the condition from the viewpoint of a leading expert on the subject. So his book and experience may not be exclusive but it sure trumps your opinions with no evidence or authority to back them up. So right now if your going to make claims then you need to present evidence and not just opinions and speculation. There are lots and lots and lots and lots of testimony of near death experiences and while skeptics and scoffers have alternative explanations the phenomenon still exists and still deserves an audience based on the evidence that we have. It is time for you to put up some evidence to counter the mountain of evidence that you are up against in this regard. The bottom line is that the leading experts are not in as much agreement as you seem to think. There is evidence for consciousness independent of the biochemical processes that we identify with the brain. Also there is a LOT about the brain that we do not know or understand. One area I have wondered about all my life is universal consciousnesses. This is a area that science has amazingly little to talk about. Even they talk about things like cosmic consciousness. Again an area you have nothing to bring to the table and nothing to contribute to our understanding of. So just because you have nothing to contribute to the conversation does not mean that there is nothing there to discuss because there are people who have something to contribute to our understanding in this area. You can not bury your head in the sand and claim the evidence does not exist because it does and it is there for us all to examine and to speculate as to the validity of consciousness independent of the brain and any biochemical processes. Again if your going to talk about universal consciousness and universal mind, not just for humans but for all species then you may want to look at what the various religions have to say about the subject and not confine yourself to what science has to say about it. Look at what all the leading experts bring to the table. Study all of the evidence. Do not just pick and choose what you want and exclude all of the rest of it. You can not ignore the evidence that does not substantiate your claims. You have to take all of the evidence into consideration and the evidence does not support your claim. Now your going to get mad, your going to insult me and call me stupid and you still are not going to come up with anything of any substance to back up your claims.

You left out a word. The point is that we are not JUST animals. There is more to us then that. We are mammals and we feel a kinship with all the other mammals as they feel a kinship with us. This is why dolphins and whales like to inter react with humans because we are all mammals and that means we have a similar biochemistry in our brains. Look at prairie voles that mate for life. They have oxytocin, vasopressin and other hormones in their brain that is very similar to us.

One of the evolutionary theorys is that man developed a high power brain because he has so little going for him in other areas. He has no natural defense. No teeth, no horns, no claws that other animals have to defend themselves. Even the little bee has a stinger. So man has had to develop a higher level of thinking in order to survive in this world. At least that is the theory.

Your the one that lacks proof and evidence for your opinions. WE have overwhelming proof and evidence that goes back 6,000 years. So they are time honored beliefs and traditions. You need to quit accusing others of what your guilty of.
