I define Evolution as the belief that animals change into other animals.

And how does that work? How did He do that?LittleNipper said:GOD spoke EVERYTHING into existance.
troodon said:ROFL, I love this one. It's such a delightful claim, and people make it all the time as if it were common knowledge. GodsSamus, Archaeopteryx is known to be a fraud to whom? Your pastor?
At least you spelled it correctly. That's better than most people who share your views can manage.
:æ: said:And how does that work? How did He do that?
You see, the difference between evolution and creationism is that the former actually describes HOW things work. That's the goal of science. Creationism doesn't explain anything. It just takes unexplained phenomena and declares them unexplainable.
Don't you realize that saying "God did it" is the same thing as saying "something happened that I cannot explain"?

LittleNipper said:GOD spoke EVERYTHING into existance. You may study the atom. You may know the sum of its parts, but you will not be able to manufacture something from nothing. GOD will tell you to get your own dirt...
This may mark the belated return of the infamous "Sinkhole Doctrine!"Bargainfluger said:He's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!

:æ: said:I'm going to go out on a limb and presume that you'd answer "God created trees. That's how they came to be." Now, I want you to consider this hypothetical response of yours, and to consider what, exactly, it explains about how the trees came to be. Do you know how God created them? Do you know what his methods were? Did he create the atoms first, and then assemble them in a puzzle-like fashion until they formed a tree? Did he recite a particular incantation and conjure them out of thin air? How does that work?

Genisis chapter 1
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth"
"And God said let there be light and there was light"
"And God said, Let thee be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters"
"And God said, Let the waters under heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land apper:and it was so."
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yeilding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so."
"And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: And it was so."
"And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good."
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind:and it was so."
"And God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness:and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creapeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
"And God blessed, them, and God said unto them, Be fruiful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
"And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
"With men this is impossible but with God all things are possible"

First off, Jenny, stating or implying that a member of the forum who claims to be Christian is not Christian is against the rules of this forum. Second, you don't need to accept the entire Bible as literal truth to be Christian. Many different Christian faiths have many different interpretations on what the Bible says. The commonly accepted litmus test (to copy Deamiter for a bit) for being Christian is the ability to truthfully recite the Nicene Creed. Third and finally, it is far more likely, historically speaking, that large portions of the Bible, particularly the earlier portions, were intended as allegory and not literal fact. Given that some of them contradict observations made about the world around us, it is almost certain that this is the case.Girl_4_God said:"You can't call yourself a Christian if you don't believe ALL of the Bible. That is NOT an opinion that is a FACT.
The earth could be "millions" of years old. There is a huge amount of evidence to indicate that the earth has been around a while. Of course the old earth that was here before was a lot different than the earth that is here now.
For example during the ice age there was a lot more land down south and a lot more ice up north. Things have changed quite a bit in the last 12,000 years.
So you don't think that Genesis could be in any way allegorical? The majority of Christians would disagree with you...
