But of course! Many will say that occurred over eons but the very layers themselves prove otherwise: there is no dust up or disturbance of those layers, no wearing away but solid....GOD is mighty!

No, I see layers exposed from millions of years of the river running through in a dry climate. Praise God! Beauty and mystery. Geologic Formations - Grand Canyon National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

Yes, I've always thought of all of those as evidence for the flood. you can find that evidence all over the world. When I was a truck driver, I drove through a spot in the desert where it looked like someone had just dropped millions and millions of large rocks and boulders, perfectly smooth and rounded, right there. It looks so out of place, but really awesome too.

Science tries to explain things from a naturalistic perspective. Of course, we have a supernatural God who supernaturally created the universe. Not everything can be explained naturally.

Matthew 24:36-39 (ESV)

"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man."

Here Jesus is speaking of a time and an event that He believed actually happened and is representative of how it will be at His 2nd coming. If Jesus said it, it is reason enough to believe it - the flood happened.

I agree, and just was wondering as I perused this thread then read this post:

Is there anyplace Jesus says something, anything, about those who do not believe Him ?

Matthew 23:27ff. But you are already familiar with this text, I suspect. Jesus had plenty of things to say against the Pharisees. The Saducees, though, had views that were even more removed from Jesus' teachings, and he did not speak against them in the same way.

How wide and deep is the river you say you see and what is its source?
Only a global flood produced global scale sedimentation and such vast erosion remnants.

Well, the river is the Colorado, of course.

How would a flood cause the Grand Canyon? I seriously can't see it. Did the flood have a huge knife right there? Why did that part of the landscape get severely cut but the landscape at the edge just stood straight? That does not sound like a flood to me.

The flood of Noah laid down the sediments seen in the Grand Canyon. And the photos showed vast areas beyond the Grand Canyon.
Nevertheless, the top of the Grand Canyon presents the width of the erosion event when it began whereas, the bottom presents the depth the erosion reached as the water level in the canyon decreased rapidly over the time required to have eroded all that we now see displayed.
No river as wide as the top of the Grand Canyon has the depth and erosion power to cut down as we see did occur.
What does explain what is seen is that cracks in the relatively soft sediments after the flood of Noah facilitated the rapid erosion downward and out the canyon.
The notion of eons slow sedimentation and eon long slow erosion is a myth due to there being no such mechanisms to produce such results.
Take a look at one layer of flood sediment.
Note that that layer is constructed of one sort of sediment. Which is why it is seen as a layer of similar contituents.
There exists no mechanism by which to produce that sorting within that layer except for a single and rapid flood event.
Over long periods of time where all materials are available no sorting out of materials occurs in water because all sedimentation overlaps continuously. That is, over long time periods only muck is produced.

Hi Christie insb! I don't have a geological background; however, you may find the following article interesting in reference to the effects of a local flood that occurred in 2002.

Texas Canyons Highlight Geologic Evidence for Catastrophe | The Institute for Creation Research

You'll notice steep edges cut away, just like we see in the Grand Canyon, but on a much smaller scale in accordance to this just being a local flood.

I don't know much about the Texas canyon but I do know a little bit about Mt. St. Helens, also featured in your article. Pyroclastic flow is not the same as a flood. The Toutle River has a huge flat valley, not a narrow canyon. I don't think the Flood is similar enough to the Mt. St. Helens explosion to use as a comparison.
From Joseppi's post, the flood laid down the mile (or more, I assume) of layers, then cut through them all to form the canyon? This doesn't really seem logical to me. What caused the layers? Would they compress under pressure that quickly for the surrounding layers to hold steady? Water has weight, obviously, but this doesn't make sense.

I am a geologist.

If we take time to really look at the features contained within the grand canyon, I mean really take time to look at each individual formation present, and what each formation consists of, it seems unreasonable to believe that a single flood could create the grand canyon.

Old Earth Geology

This is just the geology of New York. The Grand Canyons Geology contains a far greater number of independent features, far more complex than New Yorks geology. But the link above gives a brief description of features that a global flood just cannot account for, for just 1 state of 50 states of just one country on earth.
