• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together.   • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alot of us today have alot of stress and troubled minds. I am going to share something to you that has helped me out tremediously, and its called Meditation. First time you hear that word you might think "weird" or "no thank you" but take it from me, it helps a bunch.

Meditation to me is trying to find absolute peace, and a sort of understanding with god. Its remarkable, but for first timers it may not be as powerful. So i recommend you practice and find your own form of meditation to have peace with yourself and with good.

How do i do this?
- Ok well the first thing you want to do is find the most relaxing part of your home and go their. Turn off all lights and any radios. You might want to sit down, but what helps me is listening to my favorite "worldless" songs (i listen to the Constantine soundtrack). Pick a song that makes you feal comfortable. Now Slow your breathing and start taking slow deep breathes while closing your eyes. Now try and go deep within yourself and find calmness and your spirit, Now i want you to try an connect with god Spiritually, faithfully, understandingly, and just really open yourself up. Try not to think alot but really just let your spirit go to god.... At some point of your search you will find it..


I hope this works but remember everyone has there own form of meditation, so its really whatever method that works for you. This form i stated above is the form i use. I hope this helps you guys in some way.

P.s.- When you get really good at meditation, you can actually do it anywhere.. especially in those momments where you have anger, stress, worry, etc...

great thread! wonderful topic. i like to meditate outside; away from traffic, kids, noise, and distractions. both night or day. my favorite is to lay under the clouds or stars. especially seeing what God has created.

prayer and meditation are very different to me. meditation is more my spiritual walk face-to-face, while prayer is thanksgiving and petition.

another way i like to meditate is while i read the bible. just reading and pondering it all.

then i have one more way i like to meditate. i journal scripture (S.O.A.P. when you wash, use soap. (

in all my struggles with mental illness, just being a mom, or whatever, this is always renewing. gets me thinking clearer and back on track. :groupray:
