  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In my first year of college.

By roommate had the lower bunk, so I had the top.

I was always afraid of rolling out, so I learned to roll toward the wall. It worked!

:) Yes, lots of them. The best and sturdiest were hand-built. My favorite was a short three-bed loft setup: the tallest loft had its foot over a shorter loft that came out perpendicularly, which had an even shorter loft come out perpendicularly at its foot. I think it turned out as a "U" shape.

Grew up with bunk beds. My older brother on top, me on bottom. Till he got too heavy to sleep on top (splintered the plywood holding the mattress up and got a chunk of wood in my eye that had to be removed by and optometrist), when we swapped bunks. My brother moved out when I was in high school. (He was 6 years older than me)

It's good space saving device which many families use.

For many years when my sister and I were young. I had the top, and was so skinny, one night when I was around 6, I slid under the safety rail and landed on the hardwood floor. Where I landed the air duct ran under that part of the floor and must have been very loud. By the time my mom ran in, I was already covered up with the throw rug trying to go back to sleep.

Yes, and so did almost everyone I knew. Kids wanted bunk beds even though there was enough room for twin beds. They were 'neat'. My brother and I finally arranged the beds into twin beds. Much easier to make up the bedding, no more ducking or climbing. We grew too tall for that. What did happen is that we would catch our 'boxer briefs' on the bedposts and rip them as we walked around (anyone else have this problem?).

Then I joined the army and found myself sleeping in bunk beds all over again.

ever had bunk beds before

My sister and I are twins so we had bunk beds our whole childhood.

Funny story: I had the top bunk when we first got bunk beds and I didn't really like using the ladder. I used to just jump out of bed. One morning, I accidentally jumped on my sister as she was getting out of bed. She was so upset and I kept trying to tell her it was an accident, but she thought I did it on purpose. So we decided to switch beds since I was "irresponsibe." A couple months later, she jumped on me as I was getting out of bed. Then she realized how easy it was to not pay attention and apologized for thinking I jumped on her on purpose.

You guys should be cabin staff on long haul airliners: they have bunk beds! :)
