I have been watching old healing movement videos from the '50's and 60's on YouTube. There are videos of Jack Coe and especially A.A. Allen. One of Allen's videos had 'miracle oil' on his hands, where some kind of oil was appearing on his hands.
I'd heard of this sort of thing from 'prophetic movement' sources. there is a kind of movement that likes MorningStar and Kansas City prophets. Certain Vineyard churches or churches that have people from Vineyard backgrounds seem to graviate toward this movement. There are some 'Extreme Prophetic' shows on YouTube that show miracle oil, gold dust, gold fillings, diamond dust, gems that just appear, angels on tape, and a lot of other things that are perhaps a bit less sensational. I've heard of gold fillings from the Allen meetings.
I've never been anti-gold dust or anti-gold fillings. I believe God could do such things. I haven't been chasing after it.
My wife and I have been going to a church here in town that has an international emphasis. The leadership believes in the gifts, but they have people from quite a diverse background, so church services have been kind of evangelical and not too charismatic, third wave, or Pentecostal. One of the pastors spoke today about the importance of being filled with the Spirit, asking people to pray for 21 days for the Lord to fill us with the Holy Spirit.
After the service, if people want prayer, they go to ministry leaders or cell group leaders along the side. My wife and I are getting ready to take a training so we can participate in this ministry, but haven't yet. My wife wanted to pray with people after the service and went to the side. I felt like I was supposed to go with her. When I saw she went over to the side, I asked her how about if we just go stand in the back and pray that the Lord send us whoever He wants us to pray with. A few people stand in the back anyway, and it did not look like a place for prayer.
An older African American woman who was actually sitting with us in the pew earlier, that we did not really know well (beyond 'hi's' and handshakes, we haven't been going there long), came over to my wife wanting prayer. My wife got a message in tongues for her and an interpretation and prophesied over her about God using her in prophetic ministry. I prayed for her diabetes and other health problems after that.
While we were praying, she said to feel her forehead. She said she had oil on it. I felt it. Sure enough, there was a thin oil on her head. I asked her if she normally had an oily head.
She said, no. She was surprised by it and wanted to know if it were a good thing or a bad thing. We commented that it went along with the message my wife had gotten for her, since oil has to do with anointing. It may have been something, also, to show her that God was really working. She was really thankful for us praying for her.
The oil kind of dried up or disappeared after a while. I did not have any smell.
She was really overwhelmed with it and teary eyed talking about it during the church meal.
Have any of you ever had any experience with 'miracle oil' or anything like that? My wife told me when we had watch a YouTube video about this sort of thing that she'd prayed for it. I told her next time pray for limbs to grow back.
I'm glad I never came out strong against oil, or gold dust, or gold teeth, or any of those things.
