• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've kind of heard two opinions on the subject,"Writing is Art and you can't rush it" opinion and the "Just do it" opinion of the project's founder. He does it in November and thousands sign up to do it. I found out about it the last day of November and instead am going to be doing it the month of January.

I do like to write but I have never really created a work of fiction(mostly school stuff really- 8 papers this past semester). I am excited about actually getting down to writing. I think NaNoWriMo is going to be good for me since I'm a procrastinator on big projects and it helps me to have a deadline- if that deadline is too long then I tend to blow it off. I think this is perfect for me as a start, I don't expect to create a masterpiece, the joy of writing and really making a story appeals to me.

I think the website is www.nanowrimo.com

I don't know what you guys might think about this but like I said I think it will be beneficial for someone like me.

Let me know how you feel, or if you've ever done it and how it worked out.

ah, we had a thread about it at the beginning of october and a few people here participated this year. i did the 2004 nano and unfortunately i wasn't able to participate this year. i had a great time doing nano and would definitely recommend the challenge. there's a difference between getting something down and writing crap. nanowrimo is about getting your ideas down on paper. true, it's not always the best it could possibly be but that's what nanoedmo (national novel editing month) is for.

I've done it for three years and enjoyed every time. It can turn out really really good, or really really not. It just depends ;). Nevertheless, I've got a bunch of ideas and at least I have SOMETHING written now that I can revise!

That's basically how I'm approaching it as well. I mean if I really want to get something published I'm still going to have a day job anyway. I think it would be cool to be a published author though.

I had an attempt at it last year. I got to about 30,000 words well ahead of schedule and then my hard disk died in a catastrophic fashion taking my NaNoWriMo attempt and rather a large number of other jottings with it.

I didn't try it this year. ;)

That's very unfortunate. I hope my computer lives through the ordeal when I do it.

Given the quality of the novel, I like to think that my computer gave up its life for the good of humanity.
