This time of the year is rather unpredictable with regard to weather, so whenever the conditions are good, I go up flying! Today was a perfect day, as the sun now sets after 5:00 PM, and it was nice and clear! No wind, great visibility, and only high-altitude clouds were present.
I decided to make a flight up to the middle school I work at in order to take some pics for my students. It was going to be a really tight time-frame as the airplane I fly has no electrical system, and is therefore not allowed to operate between sunset and sunrise.
On my way down south to fly over the school 30 miles away... just puttin' along at 70 MPH and 3,000 feet.
Here is a small town I passed on the way, called Granite Falls. You can see the beautiful Cascade Mountains in the distance.
This was taken just a moment after the prefious one, showing a unique temperature inversion layer created in a small valley, due to the hills shadow.
Looking straight toward the town I work in... beautiful view. Sure makes the small town look even smaller from this altitude!
The middle school is right in the middle, there. Hellow students!
Wide angle view of the town, at 18mm.
The trip back was absolutly beautiful, as you can see! This is a local lake in the foreground and the Olympic Mountains in the background.
Just some fun framing, using the wing struts, wing, and Puget Sound in the background.
Find the airliner! A new Boeing 777 approaches another local airport after a test flight.
Here it is again with the Puget Sound, Whidbey Island, and the Olympic Mountains.
Almost ready to land, here is a view looking 180* at Mt. Rainier, with I-5 in the foreground.
Enjoy!!
