  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A Dutchman named Johan Huibers has built a full-size ark in the Netherlands, and it floats. He plans to use it for evangelism.

More at A full size ark and it floats!

There's another article about it in the NY Daily News, at Dutchman Johan Huibers completes 20-year quest to build full-scale, functioning model of Noah's Ark - NY Daily News

Here's a picture. The waterline looks modern because he had to build it on barges to comply with Dutch govt regulations.

One person complained that a full size ARK would break up in high waves as scientifically demonstrated with a model.
But I pointed out that there is no mention of high waves in the text.

Then they complained the animals would eat each other.
I pointed out the lack of windows and the likelihood the animals would hibernate the entire trip in such a dark space.

I don't know what demonstration that person was referring to, but I'm aware of an investigation that found the ark would have been extremely stable and could have navigated waves up to 30 meters in height.

It was done by the staff of the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Engineering in the 1990s. They verified their findings in a wave tank using scale models, and wrote a paper about it here: Safety investigation of Noah’s Ark in a seaway

Being of box construction, that is logical. But no waves are mentioned in scripture, so the testing is not required.
Pumice could work as well.
