Discussion Thread with poll. I'll start us off.

I'm not too sure about "Evan Almighty". To me, it looks pretty blasphemous. I don't know if blasphemy was the intent but I heard it's supposed to depict if the flood happened today. God would not make another flood like that. God doesn't lie. I have not seen its prequel, Bruce Almighty, and I believe Bruce Almighty would be one of those movie with mixed reviews from Christians (just my belief). I might see Bruce Almighty, but I if I see Evan Almighty, I'd probably expose it.

Judging by the trailer, it doesn't look blasphemous. It doesn't look funny either.

Meh, I think it looks good. We'll be seeing it when it's released. Blasphemous though? Nah.

It looks good. Does anyone know if it is going on general worldwide release or is it just limited to Christian groups in the USA?

It's definitely world-wide release.

I'm gonna see it, though with all the movies coming out this summer, this one may wait 'til DVD...

I don't see it as blasphemous... I see it as putting the flood in modern times, not as a second flood (which would be calling God a liar), but maybe I'll have a different view when I see it. I do know I'll be ignoring every review of it (not necessarily individuals, but the people who do this for a living), both Christian and secular.

I don't think I will bother seeing Evan Almighty. I saw Bruce Almighty and it was ok, but this one doesn't look very good at all in my opinion

Please don't make a big deal out of movies. They're just movies. Unless it's factual, don't attack them.

It's fiction, it's just for fun.

Stuff like this makes the Church look silly to the rest of the world and it doesn't help with saving people.

I loved Bruce Almighty. It had a good lesson about praying for others.

There's a good chance I will check out Evan Almighty as it seems good from watching the trailers, and I like Steve Correll as an actor.

Here's something else I want to discuss. I heard that this was the most expensive comedy ever made. I think I'll see the movie before calling it blasphemous.

Tom, the director, professed to be a born again Christian. You can find an interview with him...which is ver good, on Christiananswers.com when he did Bruce Almighty.

The director is a Christian so it's hardly blasphemous. The movie has been heavily promoted to Christians and the premeire was a concert with Christian artists Jeremy Camp, Swithfoot, Relient K and Decemberadio.

It's just a movie, and no I will not be going to see it. From the trailers I've seen it does not look good IMO.

My husband really wants to see it so I probably will. I'm skeptical because the reviews haven't been very good, but I've liked movies in the past that have overall gotten horrible reviews so you never know.

I saw it last night and it was excellent. Not at all blasphemous. It has an awesome message. DH and I agree that the writer must be a Christian.
