I was wondering how many of you have eulogies in your parish as part of the "Funeral Rite"/"Mass of the Dead"?
There has been some discussion in another room, stating that eulogies are no longer permitted in the church. An Archbishop, handed down this ruling.Sorry, can't remember what state.....lol
We sometimes have a eulogy just before the final prayer. It is usually short ,being either a poem, a reading, or just a reflection of the person's life. It is very nice , because a funeral is really for the living and not the dead. A funeral gives us mortals the closure we need to go on with our lives.
What are your opinions on this and do any of you have this done in your Diocese or parish?
