Anyone use these Bible translations?

How does it compare to the KJV?

How did the translators go about their work, did they use a literal method?

What manuscripts did they use?

I'm thinking about picking up one the above.

I love the ESV, I will preach and teach out of it. I have used, KJV, NIV, NASB, NLT but none but the NASB seem to compare. During my greek course when i would have to translate scripture it was always funny how i would come up basically word for word as to what was in my ESV. (that told me something)

As for your questions im not to sure personally. But heres an article reviewing the ESV and answers some of your questions:

http://www.christiancourier.com/feature/december2002.htm

and i think if you goto crossway publishers website (the ppl who publish the ESV - you can get that info)

Any good study editions in leather?
I bought corssways ESV thinline compact. its more of a reference bible but thats what i study with.

http://www.gnpcb.org/catalog/bibles#compact-thinline (I got the black - no study Bible as of yet that i see in this long list of the different ones u can get.)

I like this one because it 1. Fits in my pants pocket, perfect when you go out to evangelize. 2. Its small enough to preach from without gettin in the way. 3. its easy to read in bed, and its light in weight. Plus the tab thingy that holds it shut acts as an extra book mark...
