Every Catholic household should have these!

On this episode of The Catholic Talk Show, Ryan Scheel and Ryan DellaCrosse join with Fr. Patrick Mary Briscoe, O.P. to discuss setting the tone of your home with items that reflect your faith!

The Crucifix
Fr. Patrick says “a crucifix on the wall is a fundamental thing that claims a home as a Catholic home.” Placing a crucifix prominently, like in the entryway or bedrooms, is a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice and love. Not just any cross, but specifically a crucifix with the body of Jesus, helps us remember “the sufferings which He endured in His flesh.”

Sacred Images and Icons
The Holy Family, saints and angels can adorn your walls and become spots for prayer and reflection. Scheel recommends “having the Holy Family as a sign of holy domesticity and of rightly ordered home life.” Choose icons and images that resonate with your faith journey and put them where they can inspire you daily.

The Bible
Fr. Patrick explains “you should have a Bible around because people read the Bible, they read the Gospel, and they encounter Jesus Christ.” He says to consider a family Bible where you can record significant life events, like baptisms, weddings and confirmations.

Sacramentals
Holy water, Rosaries and other blessed objects are tangible ways to keep the faith active in home life. Fr. Patrick says “if the Rosary is laying out, you’re more inclined to pick it up and to pray it.”

Media and Devotionals
Catholic magazines, nativity sets and children’s religious materials are great ways to make the faith a shared family experience. Fr. Patrick believes these “are all kinds of little places in our life where we’re using different things to signal who we are and what’s important to us.”

The guys say that incorporating these items will beautify your home and grow your family’s faith together!
