I am not sure that people did not hang themselves I just have not been able to find areference to confirm it. I have heard that one form of suicide was to "fall on your sword"

Personally I think judges's theory seems to be the correct one (even though it is complicated). If I understand correctly; Dee Dee and the judge have reached the same conclusion. Have I understood it correctly?

Akeldama means "field of blood" it is also explained as "a field purchased with Judas's betrayal money, located near Jerusalem". (the KJV New Testament Greek Lexicons)
Sometimes one must go deeper than just the surface verses to find the meanings and explanations.

In the 1st chapter of the Acts Peter says that Judas Iscariot died by falling when walking in his field that he bought for the 30 silver coins, his guts spilled over the field and that is why it is known as the field of blood.

But in the gospel according to Mathew Judas throws the coins into the tempel because he regrets what he has done. The priests buy a farm for the money, bloodmoney, and therefore the field is called the field of blood. And Judas dies by hanging himself. What story is correct?

The difference is between someone saying as in the title of this thread an "Error in the N.T." and "I don't understand" or "I'm having problems with", etc.. Utter nonsense. Many frequent Christian posters would be "disqualified" if this were true. Questioning the Bible does not mean you aren't Christian.
