hehe thx! and that's only on a 1.2 ghz system. Cities are a little bit laggy for me but I can crank it up pretty well in the wild.
I wonder how it looks on a 3GHz+ system? Hmmmmm.....

I won't know for awhile, I sold mine and my laptop is "only" a 2.4MHz!:D

Oh well, an extra grand in my pocket is never a bad thing! If I get into another MMORPG, it'll definetely me EQ2.

You know, your character in that pic looks like he's straight out of LotR! Awesome! Seriously, how does it run on your system? I'm curious. Did you crank up the graphics options when you took that screenshot?

Nah, that's not all the way up, maybe half way on the game settings. My video card isn't too bad so it runs ok on the Radeon 9000. I also have my card set for performance so there is still so much detail missing really. EQ2 takes a lot to run well, but it seems to do pretty well on the lower end spectrum. It takes a little more to run than say for like SWG but there is much more detail and animation in comparison.

Ah, yes my Holy Paladin, he could almost leap out of a LOTR book it seems. Paladins make for seriously good tanks and a great roll to play if you like to lead. I didn't play the Paladin in EQ but I had a buddy that did and it was a solid build, and in EQ2 that class has gone through some good improvements just as most of the Classes have.

Paladin, huh? I've usually been a shadowknight. It seems that tanks have to pay more attention than anyone else in the party; constantly making sure that it's them that's absorbing all of the damage so that no one gets killed. Not the most glorious class, but definetely the most needed.

Got that right. My main was an SK. Nothing like having to burn your HT to pull a mob off a trigger happy wizard. :D

Yeah but that was EQ. Paladins had too many weaknesses when I was playing that game. They were good in groups but mainly as a support. EQ2 has changed things a lot for the Pal/SK classes. Just look at the total revamp of Rangers/Predators, they are nothing like what they were in EQ (weak armor and very heavy damage). Plus much of the recent content was geared for solo encounters and for the most part many of the classes are complemented for this.

Anyway, I hope some have some screen shots to share. I recall a few posters some time back saying that they were going to play this one.

Interesting. When I can get my PC upgraded, I'll definately have to give EQ2 a shot since I haven't played since beta. I've played all of the major MMORPGs and though many are good, none have yet to capture the magic of EQ for me. And I can't go back to EQ because it was ruined by the last few expansions.

Well in the spirit of keeping the thread alive in hopes of others sharing a screen shot or two here is one more. *wonders if anyone around here plays this one* Hard to fly at this detail setting and get a good shot but it's a worthy one me thinks.

Is lvling the grinding, neverending chore that it is in EQ? Say it's more accessible to solo play as well? Can I still hit a "zone" and shout LFG and likely find one?

That's the only gripe I have with WoW. Soloing is easy but sometimes I'd just like to get in a group and lvl and most groups you find (in the low-end game anyway) are just running from place to place doing quests that are too hard to solo at that lvl, then break up when the quests are done.

Since the EQ holy trinity has to a degree been broken (Warrior, Cleric, Enchanter) all the classes can find groups fairly easily. So far with my Paladin, Cleric and Predator (Ranger), any populated zone that I've done an LFG has been very easy. The first 10 levels can be hard to find full groups but once you get out of the newbie city hunting zones and into the populated zones finding a group can be fairly simple. I play on Unrest and it's very populated (full) so I'm not sure how the new servers are with a very light load... but they will be full in no time I'm sure.

As for the grind, they just changed all that with the last update. The developers are saying that they want to get away from the endless exp grind that takes serious commitment so they introduced the vitality system to help the casual players. What this does is, well as time passes your Chars Vitality increases (during down time i.e. offline) and as long as you have some vitality, you are granted double exp. So far with hunting a couple hours a day I've retained enough vitality to keep going at double exp daily. They also increased the base exp values just before the vitality system began so exp grinding is beginning to look like a thing of the past. And as far as groups, well this is still the fastest exp since many tagged MOB's give bonus "group" exp. Soloists can attack MOB's that give group exp but these MOB's are very difficult for a solo player, but still give good exp even though lower cons are best for Soloists.

Sounds good. I'll have to get it as soon as I can upgrade my PC. Actually, I was in Walmart today and picked up EQ: Platinum for $20 on a lark. I haven't played in over a year so I'm kinda curious to see what all has changed.

Yeah it's been 2 years for me. I canceled my account when I took off for a job that took nearly 24/7 of my time along with being far away from my computer and home. Got back after six months and didn't restart my account figuring they deleted my Chars after 90 days. But I got pretty busy with WWII Online and SWG so it was no problem. Wait on a new computer? Sounds like your's has more power than mine hehe. Well it was the best $30 I've spent on a game for a while anyway. Yeah I saw the EQ Plat and it was hard to put back down on the shelf.
