  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are so many different forms of writing in Eastern Asia, that when people learn English they might incorporate their sounds that we don't have in English into a second set of symbols not used in our "Standard English Alphabet", which would limit them only to our 26 letters, for example, in Russia they have developed Cyrillic beyond the early Slavic forms to include many new sounds not incorporated into early Cyrillic which is based on the Greek alphabet, but definitely not limited to it, and in using our normal keyboards (english) we would need a third shift key command to incorporate their extra letters (or simply more keys). I can see the same thing happening with East Asian "alphabets".

As far as UK and US English the differences are mainly typographical, except for the signs for the Pound Sterling as opposed to the $ sign and a Euro key, but there could be more differences than I am aware of. It's a good question.
