Engagement vs. Marriage

Hi all!!!

Want to ask a stupid question.

What are your main views on the difference between engagement and marriage?

My immature view is that this is the main ground on developing your relationship as it one day should be.

I am going through a couple of things in my life at the moment and a lot of other post incoming....caution...

Engagement is the time to discuss the few pertinent things you have not yet discussed (a huge amount should have already been resolved/discussed prior to engagement IMO) as related to marriage and a time to make more concrete plans for your married lives.

Marriage is living out the plans that both worked out the way you planned and adjusting for the plans that did not work out.

So, IMO one is planning your lives together and the other is living your lives together.

Biggest difference: engagement is not forever. Marriage is. If you spot a red flag during an engagement, you are under no obligation to stay with the person. You should approach engagement with that fact in mind.

Engagement is a promise to wed while you prepare yourselves for marriage. We are doing a retreat soon.
