  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Taylor is having a 5th grade graduation party. It will be a fairly big boy/girl party at the country club (they are letting us use the pavillion free). They are going to be able to swim, play volley ball and I will cook hot dogs and burgers.

She is allowed to invite 60 kids, I figure only half will show up. I will make sure though that I have plenty food just in case. There is a lifeguard at the pool, other than that how many adults do you think I will need? I am guessing most parents wil stay since this is 10-13 year olds.

Side note: She asked last night if should could wear her abercombie swimsuit. I said only with clothes over it. I said we can buy you a new tankini. She said ok, but I wasted $70.00 on that other suit. I told her the only place she could wear it was in the back yard. She is ok with that.

You can assume that the parents will stay - but unless you ask - I doubt many will. I know a lot of people that have been stuck with a bunch of kids (even at a younger age) b/c the parents just dropped them off.

As for the parent/kid ratio - I would want it pretty high, since they will be doing several activities, and you will be busy cooking (and I assume others will help with that as well).

I agree that if there's a possibility of 70 kids, you should have at least one adult per 10 kids *and* 1 adult per station. There should also be at least 2 adults cooking . . . for safety, sanity and fellowship :)

End of Year parties are awesome! We do them too! And I've never had a parent stay. Which is and is not fun. I think those who have offered up ratios are pretty good sounding ones.

Just out of curiosity, if the bathing suit is not appropriate for anywhere but the backyard unless additional layers are being worn, what was the reason to purchase it?

She bought it herself on a trip to the mall with someone else.

WOW! You're a nice mother!

I would've made her return it. lol
I don't know of a lot of stores that will take a swim suit back.

Plus, she did work for the money in her business that she started and continues to do on her own.
