End of the World Talk

Here's one for you rynox. An event that happens in Revelations could not come to pass until technology did come on to the scene. The two witnesses are killed and will lie dead in the streets for 3½ days...

Rev 11:10 "And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because the two prophets tomented those who dwell on the earth."

I do not see how in that short time all the earth could see them before broadcasting and the internet came into play. And that's been within the last what, 70-80 years?

I agree; and because they are sending gifts to one another, would this event take place during the Christmas season?

geese, i never even thought of that.... i just assumed the news of the dead prophets would travel by word of mouth... hahaha no, that wouldnt work out too well.... so i think you are right, our current technology will be needed to fullfill endtimes.... but how close are we....

Speaking strictly from a premellenial viewpoint we'd need to see what prophecy is yet to be fulfilled to determine 'how close' we really are. To avoid discussion of when the rapture will occur I'll base this discussion on Jesus returning on the white horse near the end of Revelation. We believe that Jesus will return at the end of a seven year tribulation period, so that event is at LEAST seven years into the future. The temple is also featured in endtimes prophecy so we also assume the temple is to be rebuilt since it doesn't yet exist. However, the temple doesn't need to be completed for sacrifice to resume, once the red heifer is sacrificed and the temple mount purified and the cornerstone for the temple in place then sin sacrifice can resume.

Also a peace treaty with Israel needs to be implemented. It appears that sin sacrifice shall be part of that treaty so by implication any treaty which provides Israel with access to the temple mount for purposes of sacrifice would signal that the 'end' is very near. Since the AC CONFIRMS the treaty then the treaty needs to already be in place, and is an event which pretrib rapture believers could see prior to their departure from the earth. I personally believe that the ark of the covenant will also be located at some point prior to the mid point of the 7 year tribulation period. Since the mercy seat located between the wings of the Cherebum symbolizes the presence of God then it seems appropriate that this will be the AC's throne when he 'sits in the temple declaring he is god'.

So, before Jesus returns on the white horse expect to see a treaty which puts the Jews in control of the temple mount, a rebuilding of the temple, and sin sacrifice instituted.

Hey... you know some people were talking about how all of Gods time frame in prophesies were literal... What about in Daniel when it talks about the 70 weeks.... and the 70th week is when all the bad stuff is going to happen......

Clarence Larkin's 'The book of Revelation'. While I don't agree with all of Rev. Larkin's conclusions he presents the dispensatinalist viewpoint very well and provides guidlines which nearly all premillennial believers follow. The fact that the book was written in 1919 and absolutely states that Israel will again become a nation (fulfilled in 1948) is further evidence that the man was onto something, considering that most exchatologists were bending over backwards to 'spiritualize' all references to Israel in prophecy.

There is no scriptural record of God saying He'd do something within a certain time frame, then following through with "WHAT" He said He'd do, outside of the time frame He ordained for it's fulfillment.

Thrive, in regards to your one post chastising us for discussing the last days, be advised you are not forced to participate in this thread. That does not make us bad servants to discuss end time prophecy. See Rev. 19:10-"... I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus:worship God:FOR THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS IS THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY."
If you are under the impression that people who discuss endtime matters never lead anyone to Christ or preach salvation, you are very mistaken.
Rynox, there have always been those who thought the world was close to the end! 2 Thess. was written because the people confused the suddenness of Christ's return(like a thief in the night) with it's immediate time frame. Paul clarified this in 2 Thess. Now that we see it is only now possible, we too wonder why they thought in the past it was near. Probably because they misinterpreted, thinking it was meant spiritually. Some today, also think it is to be taken spiritually. If it were to be taken spiritually, it would have happened many years ago. Some believe it did anyway. The mark of the beast mentioned in Rev. 13 could not have ver happened spiritually. Otherwise, how could a grocer sell you a loaf of bread if your mark of the beast was spiritual? Could the grocer see the mark on your hand? WHy did some have the mark on their forehead? How would the grocer know immediately? His bread would mold by the time he figured out a spiritual mark.

The Holy Spirit of Grace and Truth was poured out at Pentacost. This began the age of grace or the church age, also refered to as the time of the gentiles. For those who understand the shaddows and types in the Bible, it is very clear that this is a 2000 year period of time. We are very close to the end. The only problem is, no one is exactly sure when this dispensation began, so we are not exactly sure when it will end.

2 Cor. 6:2a Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Hebrews 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
