  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sorry, no offense but the answer is no.

To best understand prophecy, you need to stay within the realm of the Middle East.

The bible is all about God and His relationship with man. There's 100's of prophecies about the first coming, 1000's about the second coming. Concerning all prophecies, God uses the Middle East as the stage for all the events to take place, and He uses Israel as His leading actor. Learn the parable of the fig tree means to keep an eye on Israel. Best to understand the Jewish people, their history, customs and culture if one is dedicated to prophecy, particularly the feast days.

But you are correct about the 70 years you had mentioned in your other thread. Seven is the number of divine completion and God always completes everything in seven, whether if it's in a series of seven: 7 seals, 7 trumpets, 7 vials or in multiplies of 7: 7 x 7 years = 49 years, 50th year = Jubilee year or in increments of 7: 7 days, 7 years, 70 years, Daniel's 70th week. Seven is the most used number in the bible but amazingly, God's favorite number is 12.

The time of Israel's desolation period pre-tribulation is 70 years (it's documented in the bible) then you'll have another 7 years of completion before Christ returns and set foot on the Mount of Olives.

That could be right.

For Matthew 24:34 could mean that the temporal generation which would see the 1948 AD reestablishment of Israel, which could be symbolized by the rebudding of the fig tree (Matthew 24:32-34, Hosea 9:10, Joel 1:6-7, Luke 13:6-9, Matthew 21:19,43), won't pass, i.e. won't die off completely, until the future tribulation and 2nd coming of Matthew 24 and Revelation chapters 6 to 19 are fulfilled. A temporal generation may not pass until 70 or 80 years (Psalms 90:10), or 120 years (Genesis 6:3).

This doesn't require that the 2nd coming will occur right before, like one year before, that generation will pass: i.e. 69, or 79, or 119 years after 1948: in 2017, 2027, or 2067. And if the tribulation which will immediately precede the 2nd coming and rapture (Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6) will last 7 years (Daniel 9:27), the tribulation's first year didn't have to be in 2011, and won't have to be in 2021 or 2061, but could be in a future year (e.g. 2020) earlier than 2021.

... I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof
the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would
accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

Daniel 9:2

I have always thought it interesting how the Babylonian 70 years
which was the reason Daniel was in prayer... is connected to the
prophecy of the 70 weeks. Also... Daniel says "Darius the Mede"
[who Bible scholars think was a title for Cyrus who was half Mede]
was age 62 when he conquered Babylon [Cyrus conquered Babylon.]
The number 62 is also in the 70th week prophecy.

Learn the parable of the fig tree means to keep an eye on Israel.

If Israel is the Fig tree (I thought it was the Olive Tree, but nevermind....) Then what nation(s) then are "all the trees"?:

Luke 21:29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.

Luke seems to think we should keep an eye on "all the nations", not just Israel

And of course since the time frame of "near" could mean thousands of years, i'm not sure how this admonition is helpful anyway.

Reminds me of a family acquaintance back just before the Y2K was supposed to end it all, or what have you. He and his family stored up on all kinds of supplies.

We knew better, but it fell on deaf ears.

We run into the guy a week after "Y2K."

Rationalizing it all away, he related something like "well, we knew all along... but you never know..."

I mean, that is the "reasoning" behind such things - generations way past 1948 will come and go and people will still be around twisting that tree to bear the fruit their rationale demands it bear...

Take offense, or learn to properly search the Scriptures daily..

Israel is not the fig tree... the Law od Moses is said tree... but it was unable to bear fruit because it was weak through the flesh...

And said Law under Moses was God's doing, hence His promised New Covenant unto that nation...

Again, Israel is not the fig tree, the Law was/is.

Not that this would matter, as it's acceptance or rejection will only set off more speculation of one sort or another... as to due seasons or what have you...

Your post is interesting.

Ironically, the worldwide Y2K "end of the world" phenomena
relates to this topic in another way.

On Y2K eve, Yeltsin surprised the world by suddenly resigning...
putting his recently appointed Prime Minister in control of Russia.
Noon on Y2k eve, Vladimir Putin became ruler of Russia.

After Y2K, I read a news article that one of the few Y2K glitches...
was the malfunctioning of a US spy satellite used to monitor Russia.

Let's try this again...

Of course, my understanding is "this mystery...that blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in," Romans 11:25.

Israel being the subject of Prophecy - in other words - of that "which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" Acts 3:21 - said Prophetic Clock is stopped "until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."

It may look like the Prophetic Clock is marching on, but it is not.

Not during "this Mystery" Age.

Where every view is off - that is where it is off in.

. Someone emailed me today about a guest on Coast to Coast radio who said the end of the world will be Oct 7, 2015.
Camping, his followers, and his foolish predictions should be totally ignored by right-minded Christians. He is also a false teacher.
