Whether or not it's "sexist", is it factually incorrect?
What evidence could possibly exist that would satisfy you?Yes. There's no evidence that women are less rational or have less control over their emotions then men.
What evidence could possibly exist that would satisfy you?
What I know for certain is that I’ve never seen a man storm out of a room in tears followed by his befuddled girlfriend saying “What’s up, was it something I said?”
How would you know? You havent cried since you were a baby. What experience with emotions do you have?
According to you Godly sorrow and joy deceive us and these emotions should be purged? Im using my mind right now to ponder this assertion and that doesnt sound right. What about David, a man after Gods heart and who wept a lot? What about Job, should he have not wept? One can experience emotions without blubbering. But fairly generally emotions will always cloud judgement. That is what they are designed to do! They give an instinctive sympathy for (or denial of) a particular course of action. This was useful before society was fully formed because it improved survivability to have "gut reactions" to things. In the modern world emotion is just a hindrance - it is much better to purge it and use our minds instead. Instead of worrying about what might make you "happy", wonder instead about what might be useful.
True.Females can control their emotions too.
Suppressing emotion can be unhealthy. Thanks for sharing.True.
But then we may end up in a no-win situation. I've experienced it over and over. Have an emotion? I'm just being a silly woman with no control over herself; what can you expect from a female? Don't have an emotion? I'm unnatural and unladylike at best, usually described in crude terms questioning my sexuality.
For the record, some of us don't have to be men to experience such garbage as "If you don't stop crying, I'll give you something to cry about." Whether physical pain (such as when I broke my collarbone at school) or emotional pain (such as when my boyfriend was killed in a shooting accident) expression was discouraged, and holding everything inside was seen as being "strong and brave." I didn't cry in either situation, and I was admired for it. This was anything but healthy.
What about David, a man after Gods heart and who wept a lot?
Its not about trying to emulate anything. Does a person feel sorrow by trying to mimic someone else? No. What about Jeremiah, is he a role model?David is a very poor role model. No-one should be trying to emulate him.
Why do so many 'men' support their own emasculation? Calls for more crying and emotional behaviour. This girl-like behaviour doesn't make Sense to me when it comes out of men.
What I say is true and does have observable evidence.
I said women are emotional and are ruled by their emotions, how can I prove this? Well look what happens when a woman is pregnant or on her period, emotional.
Thank you brinny. I agree.Emotions/feelings
Speaking of "tears", David cried many of them. He describes them in Psalms repeatedly. In one of the verses, in a prayer to God about his tears, he speaks of God, saving his tears in a bottle. Our tears are very precious to God. He promises that those who "sow in sorrow" shall "reap in joy", and that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.
Emotions are from God. How can we not weep when we see the devastation of this fallen world and when evil is celebrated, etc.
Our tears amidst our prayers are precious to God because it is like "incense" rising up to God.
Psalms is very clear on what emotions are "of God" and which are not. Some emotions are downright sinful. Proverbs also exemplifies which emotions are evil because they originate from the enemy.
What comes to mind for me, in summary, is David dancing with all his might before the Lord. His "heart" was overflowing and thus dancing with joy before he even began physically dancing.
What is "joy"? It's an "emotion".
There is a REASON that God Himself called David the "apple of His eye", and a man "after His own heart".
This song comes to mind. When we love God and our hearts are overflowing with this love, thankfulness and praise, how can we keep from expressing it?
How can we keep from singing?
