  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This video addresses forgiveness as coming too soon, being used as a way to escape discomfort, instead of allowing us & our world to be changed by the discomfort. While he addresses Christians, I want people from any or no religion to discuss what he brings up, as it is all very relevant to our modern world.

Meh. He's right that comfort isn't appropriate to every situation, but I don't think he is right to affirm the common association between forgiveness and comfort. This is just another example of the ascendency of empathy and Rogerian psychology. I'd say the more important thing regarding violence and injustice is how to see truth and handle emotions, not how to manufacture them. His premise that experiencing strong emotions is the key to solving problems is a very common fallacy in the modern world. Not a very penetrating analysis.
