[Les Grands Pieds]

I got an Apple eMac like two months ago and I just wanted to tell everybody how happy I am with it. You guys gotta get one of these things. I'm telling you, it's the coolest computer you've ever seen!

New Macs run on an OS called Panther. It's Apple's awesome UNIX-based OS. It's super-fast, and super-dependable. Coolest of all, the desktop is totally three-dimensional. It actually has depth, and all the windows on the screen are shadowed and all the graphics are hardware accelerated. It's like nothing you've ever seen before, it's really awesome.

I'm too poor to buy a new Apple (but I really want one) so I have to settle for the next best thing: UNIX

i cant get the darwin iso.gz to gunzip
keep getting an unsupported file error and ive tried 10 programs
what a headache!

Yeah, macs are great. I have a powerbook G4.. mmmm.

I really like Panther cos its based on unix/linux. But if you cant afford a mac, you should just get a cheap pc and run linux. (Redhat if you are new, and Slackware if you are used to it).

I do use linux but it's incompatabilty bothers me.

*coughFreeBSDcough* You can actually download a live cd now... just google for FreeSBIE. I use it at school so I don't have to use Windows, and it's a pretty well put together CD.

yeah some incompatibility bothers me. Its pretty compatible with most stuff. Except for my durn printer.. i use samba and when i print from windows. it prits out gibberish.. im pretty sure its just because of windows..

I have never used Free BSD, i want to try it out though.. but I also got a copy of Windows Server 2003, which I heard was really good.
