I've been wondering just what do you guys think about this anime ? as in your point of view of course.

This anime contans Violence (in an extreme amount I must add) lots of nudety but a good story line and it's one of my favourite anime by far.

I wanted to know how does other Christian people think of this anime.
I can't give you a Christian's perspective, but I can give you my own.

The anime was excellent. The art quality was far above par. The characters were reasonably beleiveable (except for that whole vector-y invisible arms thing). It provoked a wide variety of emotions. And Lilium, along with the opening sequence is probably the best opening sequence you'll come across in anime.

The violence is sometimes over the top, maybe unnecessarily so, which may turn off some people to it altogether. The scenes of nudity seem a bit more justified to me, in both emphasizing the humanity of the characters to the viewer while at the same time showing how the humans view the diclonious as animals.

It's plot is solid, engaging and full of thought provoking messages about mental health, humanity, emotions and relationships. That is, if you can see beyond the blood, boobs, and cutesie-poo horns.

From a Christian view? Romans 14

From an anime viewer's perspective, it was the gore that piqued my interest. Generally, I thought it was great but the novelty kinda wore off by the end.

If you're interested in human nature (especially the dark side of it), you might want to also watch Jigoku Shoujo.

If you liked the violence, you may be interested in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (suspense/murder/mystery anime).

It is funny how people perceive things, because I would have said quite the opposite.

I'm not sure where this anime would have been without the violence. It emphasises the whole split personality of Nyuu. One side being innocent and kind and the other being violent and deadly. The violence is a result of her childhood and how she was treated.

As for the nudity I thought it was almost done for the sake of having nudity. Take the end of episode 2 where Kohta is helping change Nyuu clothes because she is wet. I won't detail the whole scene, but there is no point to it. It doesn’t add to character development or the plot. In my opinion it cheapens an otherwise quality anime with something that is just plain perverted. I guess that is why this is put in the Ecchi 1 genre.

Can’t argue with the rest though. That opening sequence is first rate. The music sounds as though it has been done by a nun. Not sure what they call that. I know when it is done by monks it is referred to as Gregorian chant.

1. Ecchi is an English word deriving from a Japanese word meaning "lewd" or "naughty" when used as an adjective,

I think this series was one of the more entertaining short series that I've seen. Lucy was my favourite female chracter for a long time. There's a deep story of her past with Kota and an overall interesting concept that ties in with the main plot. The violence is excessive, but it's a part of her ability and nature. I could care less about the nudity. I'm not gonna be picky about it.

One of the best series I've watched.

At first, the violence was a bit offputting, but that wore out after a while. The nudity I didn't find all that erotic (especially when juxtaposed against all the flying body parts), and I think it did add a sense of how deplorable the conflict was - even if there is a pretty strong current of fanservice involved in it.

I would recommend anyone to watch the AMV that combines Elfen Lied with Jewel's song "Amen". The effect is just chilling. It's fairly easy to find if you search for it with Google. To be completely honest, that video is actually what made me want to watch the series. Up to that point, I'd just figured it was all senseless nudity and gore based on the other videos I'd seen that used it (granted, I'm now guilty of that too based on one of my entries for AMV Hell CE, but anyway). The section from about 3:00 to about 3:40 is just beautiful - tragic, like the series itself, but beautiful.

I liked it.

In fact, I've got the opening song in my music player (on my webpage) and on the music icon on my post profile.

Interestingly, I sometimes play around with the idea of an Elfen Lied Live action remake done in Hollywood...

Heh.
