At my Dilley Bible Church today, 2012 March 25th Sunday, I saw this college student during Adult Sunday School. I've never seen this man before but I had respect for him & I could tell that he cared about people.

After Sunday School I went off & ran into a picture of him (on a display board), his beautiful wife, a son, & a daughter, & the words: Titus & Stephanie Folden: Guayaquil, Ecuador: World Venture. That guy was actually Titus, a missionary, with his wife & two kids, in Ecuador.

During the sermon, Titus told a story of an abusive father who was trying to bribe the president of that country or an organization because the father wanted his twelve or so year old daughter back in order to sell her to the trafficking sex slaves world.

The dad was going to give the man money so he could get his daughter back. That was tempting but the man instead said, "We will only hand her over when everybody is looking," which got the dad to back down.

I was in tears.

He also told the story about the star fish saver on the beach. There were too many star fishes to save before the sun would rise, but as he threw one star fish into the ocean, he says, “Well, I made a difference for that one.”

Places like Ecuador are male dominate meaning that because females rely more on the males they end up putting up with more physical & verbal abuse & neglect & hurt & mistreatment.

Hearing & seeing missionaries makes me emotional mostly because I feel like Jonah whom known I’ve been called 19 years ago but has resisted & procrastinated & made excuses & got distracted & caught on rabbit trails & side missions & what have you. I need to be out there doing things & as soon as possible. The conviction kills me as I wait on the sidelines.

In societies like Ecuador, if you see abuse & tell people or the authorities about it then bad things often will happen to you. It makes you wonder if we can stand up for social injustice & trafficking in the mist of such horror.
